Steps to Protecting
your Brain
There are a few steps on the path to brain protection whilst riding a bike:
Ride Recklessly
Acquire Protection
Use protection
Win
According to the Fogg Behavior model (behaviorModel.org) completing these steps will require Motivation, Ability, and a Trigger to perform the behavior.
Riding a Bike
(with or without handle bars)
Riding a bike is the first step to riding a bike with a helmet. Yes.
I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike...
I wanna be green, just like you!
Fast is FUN!
I'm late! I'm late!
Who can do this?
Anyone with a bikeWho is not too tiredAnd has the time
Will be reminded of riding, and facilitated in riding, by their bike
Having a Helmet on Hand
To put on a Head
Without the helmet on hand, how could we wear a helmet?
May I be safe and Free from Injury:Hope to facilitate later habit.
These factors will make it hard to get a helmet on hand:No money to buy.I don't normally buy a helmet.Plus, nobody else is doing it.
Triggering this one time behavior might require serendipitous advertising,Or a nagging mother.
Wearing that Helmet
To protect that head
Now that we have a helmet in the way of our bike...
We can wear it whenever we ride:easy.
It feels good to take care of oneself. The fear of brain damage: alleviated.
Taking bike keys out of the helmet, or having it dangling from a bag screams: Put this ON!
