USER’S MANUAL
Aqualife Products® (Australia) Pty LtdSteam Sterilisor Water System
Thank you very much for selecting AQUALIFE. In order to bring the best use ofyour system, please read the user’s manual carefully before installation and followthe regulations.
Attention
This is a scientific instrument. Please ensure that only Aqualife® approved replacementcomponents are used. Inferior prefiltration, polishing filters and membranes may result in reducedwater quality and reduced system peformance. Please note that components designed forhome water treatment reverse osmosis system are NOT suitable for use in this system.
AQUACLAVE Manual Flushing Membrane System
ATTENTION
This AquaClave® water treatment system has been specifically
engineered to supply feed water to any steam sterilising equipment.
The product water is not recommended for human consumption.
Drinking water solutions are also available from Aqualife Products
(Australia) Pty Ltd.
IMPORTANT
The system has been engineered to operate within a controlled
environment. Where high water pressure risks exist above 860 Kpa
(125 psi) a 600 Kpa pressure limiting valve must be installed to
avoid nulliying the warranty.
Australian Plumbing Industry regulations require the installation
of a dualcheck valve and this is a plumber’s responsibility.

Introduction of AQUACLAVE® RO P5
Manual Flushing Membrane SystemIncorporating the best Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology the built-in manualflushing membrane of the AquaClave® RO P5 brings you premium waterwith less than 1 ppm in total dissolved solids quality at your finger tips! Thisspecial easily-operated function can extend the service life of the ROmembrane. It also provides the ability to wash away carbon fines whenchanging filters. AquaClave®RO P5 provides the quickest way to know thequality of your water. The system is capable of removing over 99% of totaldissolved solids, +99% of all organics, and +99% of all bacteria.AquaClave®RO P5 meets all different water quality needs. The total dissolvedsolids (TDS) test meter should be used on every ocasion when drawing waterfor use.

What is reverse osmosis?
Reverse osmosis was originally designed to make sea water drinkable for the
navy.
Reverse osmosis is the reversal of the natural flow of osmosis. In a water
purification system, the goal is not to dilute the salt solution, but to separate
the pure water from the dissolved salts and other contaminants. When the
natural osmotic flow is reversed, water from the salt solution is forced to pass
through the membrane in the opposite direction by application of pressure,
thus the term REVERSE OSMOSIS. Through this process, we are able to
produce pure water by screening out the salts and other contaminants.

Cartridge Filters Filter Description Service Life
Stage 1Pretreatment
This cartridge commences the treatmentprocess by removing suspended solidssuch as dirt and rust. The other importantfunction is to reduce the chlorine andorganic content of the feed water
6 Months
Stage 2Pretreatment
The purpose of this high performancecarbon filter is to further remove freechlorine and organic content of the water. It completes the 2 stage pretreatment ofthe feed water supply.
6 Months
Stage 3RO TFC Membrane
This specifically engineered low volumeproduction capacity with high rejectionTFC membrane is manufactured in theUSA. The membrane removesapproximately 99.99% of all dissolvedminerals and salts present in the feedwater supply. Production and performancewill be influenced by the chemical analysisof the water supply.

Stage 4Post Carbon FilterOrganic Terminator
NSF approved. This post membranecarbon filter is designed to removeorganic residue. It removes residualimpurities and odors from the tank andprovides a finer conditioning of purewater.

Stage 5Non-organic PolishingCartridge
This final process addresses all non-organic residue leaving a quality of waterthat complies with AS 2182 1998Appendix C Quality of Feed Water forSteam Generation when the system isoperated in accordance with this manual.

A. With everything connected, SLOWLY TURN ON THE WATER ANDCHECK FOR LEAKS.
B. Make sure the storage tank shut-off valve is “OFF”. Open the sink topfaucet.
C. Within a few minutes (up to 15) the water will start to run from the faucetslowly.
D. Let the water run for at least 30 minutes. This flushes the carbon filterson first time use. CLOSE FAUCET AND AGAIN CHECK FOR LEAKS.
E. After initial flushing, open the shut-off valve on the tank and close thesink top faucet.
F. Tank will now be full of water (usually 5 to 6 hours). Open the sink topfaucet and drain all water until the storage tank is empty and there isonly a small flow from the sink top faucet.
***DO NOT USE FIRST TANK OF WATER.***G. Close the sink top faucet. The system is now ready for use.
H. Change filters regularly every 6 months and have the membranechecked annually.
Caution
1. Do not use hot water (over 45°C)
2. Do not allow the system to freeze
3. Switch off electricity and water source if away for more than5 days, and drain the tank

How to apply the manual-flushing function
12
When you need to apply this function, simply turn manual flushing switch on.
Flushing for 30 seconds then turn switch back.
Suggestion for applying the manual flushing functionWe suggest you apply the manual flushing function when:
A. This is the first time you start to use the AquaClave system.
B. When it is time to change filters.
Applying the manual flushing function regularly (once a week) is alsorecommended.
*Caution!• Keep the system running when manual flushing function is on.
• Have the manual flushing function on for 30 seconds.
• Do remember to turn the manual flushing switch back after completing theflushing.

FAQ

Q: What is the guarantee on the AquaClave® RO P5system?
The AquaClave® RO P5 system (excluding filters) is guaranteed for 1
year for material and workmanship. All defective parts will be replaced
free within the first year under natural breakdown. The membrane has
one year pro-rated guarantee.
Q: What factors affect the quantity and the quality of thewater production? There are four major variables to consider:
1. Pressure - The greater the water pressure, the better the waterquantity and quality produced. Water pressure of 60 PSI is ideal.
2. Temperature - 23°C is the ideal water temperature for R.O. 5°Cwater will cause the production of R.O. water to fall to half of thatat 23°C. The maximum water temperature recommended is 27°C.
3. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) - The higher the amount of dissolvedcontaminants in the water, the lower the quantity of water produced.A high level of TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLIDS can be overcomewith additional water pressure.
4. Membrane - Different membranes have different characteristics. Some produce more water than others; some have bettercontaminant rejection capabiltiies; some have greater resistanceto chemical abrasion. For a longer life system include a carefullyselected low production, high rejection membrane. The Thin FilmComposite (TFC) membrane combines the best of thesecharacteristics and is considered the finest membrane in the world.
Q: Can the AquaClave® system be connected to an extrafaucet?
No. This system is specifically engineered for use in the steam
sterilisation process.
