Greetings !

Hi Key Clubbers! My name is Shirley Chou, and

I’m your new lieutenant governor. I am currently

n grade 11 at Robert Bateman Secondary .

Some of my goals is to

strengthen club relationships

and K-Family relations. I am

looking forward to meeting all

of you and working with you

all. I want to thank my outtie,

Elisei Costea for being our immediate past lieu-

tenant governor, who worked tirelessly for our di-

vision. Don’t hesitate to contact me about any

problem whether it be about key club, school or

anything. I’m here to help.

District Convention was an amazing

experience. It was attended by over

1600 key clubbers from the district.

Unfortunately we had to retire the

2012-2013 board but we installed

the new 2013-2014 board. I believe

the district would be stronger under

their leadership of Trang Tran, Eric

Grewall, Sara Thomas and Hakikat

Bains.

We also had the opportunity to hear

a inspirational speaker , Brett East-

burn who was born without arms

and legs. He conveyed the message

that he has no boundaries and that

we don‟t have boundaries either.

I urge you all to attend DCON next

year.

What is Key Leader?

Key Leader is a weekend leadership program for today‟s

young leaders. This life-changing event focuses on service

leadership as the first, most meaningful leader-ship development experience.

There will be large and small group workshops and team

building activities. Students will be able to learn leadership

skills that will help them change their schools, communities, and world for the better. You will meet new friends

and have an experience you will never forget.

Key Leader was an amazing

experience. I feel like I

have learned more about

leadership in 3 days than I

have all year. I had the op-

portunity to meet many key

clubbers from both Canada

and U.S.A

This month at Bateman „s key club, We only had 2 meetings

since we lost 2 meetings to spring break. I had the privilege to

attend DCON during spring break. It was an amazing experi-

ence. The 2 meeting that we have we have been hard at work

planning the lock in we will be hosting at the school. Finalizing

our plan . We decided on a hunger game theme where the par-

ticipants would be put into “districts”. They would compete

against each other the winner would get a prize. We have also

done some preliminary planning for the gr.7/8 dance the Bate-

man Key Club will be hosting.

As my last month as president I would like to thank everyone

for making my term successful. I would also like to say good

luck to the new club officers and I know that they will have a

wonderful year.

GW Graham Secondary During the month of March Solh Key Club there has been a lot of discussion about future of the Club such as what we will be do-ing. Throughout the month of March Solh Key Club participated in Ruth and Naomi‟s at our local mission center to help serve and prepare food for those in need in our community. And due to the break we decided to plan for our upcoming events including the 30 Hour Famine. Planning for the 30 Hour Famine has become more serious, and much progress has been made. The sign up and ad-vertisement has begun at lunch and advisory. The 30 Hour Famine is planned for April 19 and overnight into April 20. Teachers and adults have been asked to stay for the sleepover and supervise. We are also hosting a baking party for Rice Raiser to raise funds for families in Rwanda to purchase pigs on April 16th, volunteering at Chilliwack and Sardis Kiwanis Compost Sale on April 19th and 20th at Minter Country Garden, and then we plan to have a Movie Night sometime in May. Along with those events we are having three Solh Key Club Members attend Key Leader this year at Lake Kawakawa. It is a pleasure to work with all of the wonderful mem-bers of Key Club and Kiwanis. The new executive officers started to take on their new roles. The new secretaries have begun re-cording of the meetings. We are currently looking for a new

teacher advisor. We have looked over what has been planned for the next few months. I am honored to have the privilege to work with so many inspiring peers.

This month, Abby Key Club has been planning the 30 Hour Famine and a movie night at Godson Elementary. We are all work-ing hard to make sure that these events run smoothly. This will probably be the last report I will write, as the presidency of our Key Club is going to be passed onto Pranav Arya. I would like to take this chance to say well done to all of the Key Clubs in the Lower Mainland! We have all worked very hard on the projects that all of our clubs have taken on, and let‟s hope that all of our work will benefit the future.

Trick or Treat for UNICEF!

Each year many clubs participate in UNICEF’s Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF

program. It’s a very easy event that produces a huge impact! While

you’re trick-or-treating, simply let the homeowners know that you’re

trick-or-treating for UNICEF and looking for any donation possible! All

Hope everyone had a relaxing Spring Break! Right be-

fore the break, our Key Club organized a school-wide fund-

raiser for the Rice Raiser and raised $462 in rice and cash.

Next Thursday, our Key Clubbers will again be working with

Hunger Response International by volunteering at Mill Lake

for "Walk for the Rice Reason". On Saturday, April 27th, we

will be starting up our annual Mushroom Compost Sale. On

this day, we will be shovelling the compost into bags for

our sales. If anyone is free that morning or afternoon,

please contact any of our members for more information.

We will greatly appreciate the help!

Each year many clubs participate in UNICEF’s Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF

The last couple of months for our club have been productive, ex-citing and successful. being a smaller and newer club we have been a little slow to get service done; however, I am proud to an-

nounce that we had clothe drive in which we raised an astonishing 700 pounds of clothing. we donated the clothes to a Salvation Army in which it will be handed out freely to homeless people. it was a large success as we as a club did not anticipate such a vast quantity. as spring break is done, my club plans on finishing the year strong, with some strong deeds of service. lastly, with three executives graduating this year, we will be having an election where we will gain three new executives. the rest of the year is looking good and I am excited to Dive into Service with my club and other clubs alike!

Farewell Message

Greetings

Greetings fellow Key Clubbers! This past year

has been an amazing year for me. Serving as the

Lieutenant Governor for our division was by far the

best memory of my senior year. Unfortunately my

term has come to an end. It has truly been a privi-

lege to be able to work with you for the past year.

Luckily I will be leaving our division in good hands. I

believe that Shirley will be equally talented and

supportive, if not more. The most rewarding part of

this experience has been getting to know people

from our division as well as from the district board. I

would like to thank all of you for this experience as

well as for the support I have received from many of you. Lastly, I would

like to thank the Kiwanians for their support of my term as a Lieutenant

Governor. THANK-YOU

Elisei Costea
