WELCOME TO GÖTEBORG

The Swedish Figure Skating Association together with the City of Göteborg welcome skaters, officials, judges and guests from all International Skating Union Members to the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships in Göteborg, Sweden from the 12 to the 14 of April 2012!

GÖTEBORG has 550 000 inhabitants which makes it the 2nd largest city in Sweden and is situated in the heart of the exotic Scandinavia, close to the three royal capitals Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo.

Göteborg is a very important commercial and indu-strial centre and a centre of research and techno-logy at institutes such as Chalmers University of Technology and the Göteborg University.

Göteborg is characterized by international style, lo-cal creativity and a natural, relaxed charm. A wide selection of venues, accommodating effi-cient friendly service and care are other qualities that make Göteborg the perfect venue for work

and play. Meeting venues, hotels, restaurants and shops are allocated within easy walking distance. Scandinavium arena is also located in the city-centre. Göteborg is a friendly city with an open and hospitable atmosphere. Experiences of large international events have given the police the know-how required to work professionally with security issues. Adding to the feeling of security is also the fact that the general population speaks English, so visitors can rely on being understood in most situations.

Göteborg is easily accessible by road, sea, rail and air. Göteborg Landvetter Airport (GOT) has daily direct connections with all major European desti-nations, intercontinental flights require only one stop on the way to Göteborg, and the airport is just 20 minutes by car or bus from the city centre.

THE CITY HARBOURThe harbour, which is the largest natural harbour in Northern Europe, has been important to several kinds of businesses and people during the centu-ries. There are a wide range of landmarks along the banks telling interesting and fascinating stories about the city of Göteborg.

THE ARCHIPELAGOThe unique Göteborg archipelago is an extraor-dinary experience. Thousands of islands lie scat-tered along the west coast all the way up to Oslo, the Norwegian capital. The whole coastline and its many islands offer unlimited opportunities for sunbathing and swimming. Find some of the many untouched spots, and explore the charming little fishing villages.
