Withycombe; hon. editorial secretary, Mr. J. D. Fergusson. Arthritis and Rheumatism Council During 1966 this Council gave f.137,000 in grants, including f 15,500 to Dr. I. M. Roitt for his research at the Middlesex Hospital Medical School, E13,500 to Dr. P. H. Wood for an epidemiology survey analysis by a group working in Manchester, and E12,000 to Dr. J. J. R. Duthie to allow the research of his team at the Northern General Hospital in Edinburgh to continue. Cardiovascular Research at Hammersmith On Monday the Joseph Collier building at the Royal Post- graduate Medical School, Hammersmith, London, was formally opened. The building, which will house the Medical Research Council’s Cardiovascular Research Unit, includes laboratories, recording-rooms, and offices, with space for overseas research fellows who wish to work for a time in the United Kingdom. Postgraduate Medical Centre at Sutton Coldfield Sir Max Rosenheim, P.R.C.P., is to open this centre at Good Hope General Hospital on Saturday, July 15. British Academy of Forensic Sciences A meeting of the Academy will be held at the Institute of Psychiatry, Maudsley Hospital, Denmark Hill, London S.E.5, on Friday and Saturday, July 21 and 22. The subject of the meeting will be the hazards of modern life, and the programme will include discussions on noise, travel, crime, and recreation, with a panel discussion on the right to privacy.
