Animation The applied design/media: animation program provides a comprehensive foundation in the traditional and digital artistic skills that are at the center of the animation, visual effects, and video gaming industries. Our program allows you to build your own emphasis in either traditional 2D or computerized 3D animation depending on your choice of electives. With an associate in science degree in animation you will be prepared for entry-level employment in the creative industries or transfer to a four-year animation program.

Upon graduation you will have a solid understanding of the fundamental principles, terms, tools and methods of animation. Our coursework is designed to develop your ability to creatively design characters, produce story ideas and storyboards, manipulate motion and timing of animated elements, and create an overall narrative for each project. You will have the opportunity to plan and create a series of short animations in both traditional and computer-based formats, and assemble them into a final portfolio as a demonstration of your individual competency in the field of animation.
