Nevertheless, it doesn’t substitute the Italian document “Bando di Concorso a.a 2018/2019 per l'ammissione e requisiti per la

riammissione”, which remains the only legally valid reference as to the definition of the criteria of admissibility in the rankings for

EDUCatt scholarships and extraordinary granted funds.

In case the admission is possible, the student with a disability equal to or higher than 66% take precedence on the other admissible students during the selection for the assignment of a place. Students with particular health or psychological necessities need to inform EDUCatt as soon as possible, too, and however within 10 working days from the deadline for the submission of the application for the selection process (test and interview), as specifically defined for each campus, in order to enable EDUCatt to verify that the conditions for the life in a community are met. It is to be underlined that EDUCatt does not provide support services such as accompanying, assistance, night supervision and so on, within the residential colleges or other structures having an agreement with them. The possible access to the structure by external support (parents or specialized staff indicated by the family) will have to be agreed with EDUCatt and the involved student has to face the related expenses themselves.

(*) This number of credits is required also for students enrolling in a first year of a master degree. EDUCatt may make modifications on the chart above, following possible changes taking place after the official document for the call is published.

N.B. Not all the subjects and credits (e.g. internship) in a student’s curriculum can be considered as to the satisfaction of the merit-based requirement. The students with a disability level equal to or higher than 66% can have individualized requirements according to their typology of disability. The requirements can change in this case up to 40%. EDUCatt will commit to establish appropriate merit-based criteria for the single cases, also thanks to the cooperation with experts. For the students enrolled in the Faculty “SCIENZE LINGUISTICHE E LETTERATURE STRANIERE”(Foreign Languages and Literatures) and in the degree course “SCIENZE LINGUISTICHE PER LE RELAZIONI INTERNAZIONALI”(Foreign Languages for International Tourism) of the interdepartmental Faculty “SCIENZE LINGUISTICHE” and “SCIENZE POLITICHE E SOCIALI” (Political and Social sciences) the academic credits of the mid-terms of the language courses (e.g. “LINGUA E LETTERATURA” and “LINGUA E LINGUISTICA” for bachelor degree courses) will be considered among those valid for the application for the second year of course (both bachelor and master degree courses). They will be calculated as follows:

– 3 academic credits for oral exams; – 4 academic credits for written exams.

If the exams related to these courses are already fully recorded, no increase is foreseen due to the mid-terms.

How to use Bonus Credits In order to acquire the minimum requirements to be admitted in the ranking, all the students enrolled in a year subsequent the first one have the possibility to benefit from bonus credits according to the following modalities to reach the foreseen amount of recorded academic credits by 10 August 2018.This chance is given in the only case the student never benefited from the use of bonus credits before (not even in other universities).

Students who are admitted or readmitted in the residential colleges through the use of bonus credits will have their fee increase of € 20.00 for each missing credit.

3.3 Specialization programs and PhDs

Students enrolled in these courses are expected to meet the requirements to be admitted in the subsequent year.

4. EVALUATION OF THE STUDENT’S ECONOMIC AND PATRIMONIAL CONDITIONS (FOR THE ASSIGNMENT TO THE INCOME RANGES) The income-based requirements are related to the family unit, as interpreted by the following Italian law: art. 3 del D.P.C.M. n. 159, 5 December 2013. For the students whose family unit generates an income and/or hold capitals in Italy, there are two parameters of reference: the so-called “ISEE” (concerning the economic situation in 2016) and the “ISPE” (concerning the patrimonial situation in 2017). EDUCatt can accept, only by the end of the month of SEPTEMBER 2018, possible adjustment of the income ranges in accordance with the ISEE certification, if this is received after the deadline for this call. If accepted, the request may lead to the payment of € 100.00 corresponding to the extra administrative costs.

4.1 Family unit

In order to know how the family unit is defined in the Italian legislation, please refer to the Italian official document for the call.

4.2 Economically independent students

To be classified as “independent students” according to the Italian official document for the call (paragraph 4.2), there are two conditions to be met:

a) They must have been living on their own, in a property not related to the family unit’s real estate for two years or more

b) They must have been working, not for a member of the family unit, for two years or more with a yearly fiscally declared income of € 6,500.00 at least.

In order to be recognized as such, the students must provide some documents, as better specified in the Italian official document for the call. If you have any doubts, please don’t hesitate to contact EDUCatt offices in your campus.

4.3 Students with incomes and/or capitals abroad (outside Italy)

The students whose family unit generates an income or hold capitals abroad must provide the following documentation to EDUCatt, translated into Italian by the competent authorities. The aforementioned documentation must certify:

– the family unit’s members number – the total income of all the family unit’s members referred to solar year 2017 – the economic value of the real estate owned by the family unit by 31

December 2017, together with the number of square meters – the economic value of the movable heritage (average deposit of 2017).

It will be responsibility of EDUCatt to calculate the corresponding income range. Students coming from particularly poor countries who find difficulties in providing these documents should contact EDUCatt offices in their campus.

N.B.: Students coming from non-EU countries are kindly invited to get in touch with UCSC International Office (phone: +39 02 7234.5257/5258/5259, email [email protected]), to check if there are financial aids, as described in the following webpage http://www.ucscinternational.it/academics/undergraduate-programs/bachelor-degrees-in-italian#tasse-e-borse-di-studio.

5. CALCULATION OF THE ANNUAL FEE The yearly fee is determined according to the economic condition of the student’s family unit, considering the two parameters mentioned in the paragraph above (ISEE and ISPE). Starting from the value of the ISEE, the students are assigned to one of the six existing income ranges. In relation to income range, a different yearly fee is determined:

1st range (fee A)

2nd range (fee B)

3rd range (fee C)

4th range (fee D)

5th range (fee D*)

6th range (fee D**)

from € 0.00

from € 14,420.32

from € 17,709,35

from € 23,000.01

from € 28,285.55 Beyond the

limits of fee D* to €

14,420.31 to €

17,709.34 to €

23,000.00 to €

28,285.54 to €

37,337.22 The students who have a ISEE value lower than € 23,000.00, but a ISPE (which is the result of “ISP”: “scala di equivalenza”) higher than € 50,000.00, are still attributed the fee D. The students intending to pay the highest fee (6th range, fee D**) must declare it when applying online and will be therefore exempted from filling in the section of the family unit’s economic condition.

6. REQUIREMENTS In order to apply for ADMISSION or READMISSION at a discounted fee (lower than fee D**) the students must have the certification “ISEE per le prestazioni per il Diritto allo Studio Universitario”, requested in solar year 2018, available by the deadline of the call.

Italian and foreign students whose family units generate incomes in Italy In order to have this document available by the deadline, the student or another member of the family unit has to go to any office of CAAF (it’s an authorized center for fiscal assistance), or to other dedicated institutions and request the “ISEE per le prestazioni per il diritto allo studio universitario”. It generally takes 10 working days to have the documentation ready: the student is required to take into account this timing.

Foreign students whose family units generate incomes or hold assets abroad (outside Italy) This category of students needs to make reference to paragraph 4.3 of the call.

6.1 Requirements for the admission in the Residential Colleges

In order to be admitted in one of the residential structures, the students must meet all the requirements of this call and must apply online through their own personal MyEDUCatt web area, http://myeducatt.unicatt.it/.

Students enrolling in the first year of a master degree, who in a.y. 2017/2018 were enrolled in the first year after the regular duration of their degree course can apply, but only if they graduate within the summer (July 2018). As follows, the general criteria for the creation of the rankings and the assignment of a place in one of the structures are listed. These are to be integrated by the specific details related to each campus, as to the section “SPECIFIC DETAILS FOR EACH CAMPUS”.

6.1.1 General criteria for the creation of the rankings5

Income and merit-based requirements will be integrated by the high school diploma grade, the results of a written test on general culture (in compliance with the programs distributed by the Italian Ministry of Education) and an interview. These will be evaluated by a selected Commission: the highest score is 100 points. They will also take into account the applicants’ inclination to take part in the educational proposal of the structures on campus. The Commission’s decision cannot be contested. Considering the total number of applicants in relation to the number of places available, the Commission will have the possibility to establish a minimum score to be included in the ranking.

Students enrolling in the first year of a bachelor or a single-cycle degree The admissible students will be included in two rankings according to the range they belong to: first ranking corresponding to fees A - B - C ; second ranking corresponding to fees D - D* - D**6. The students belonging to the fees A-B-C will take precedence over those included in the fees A - B – C, who will be assigned a place until the exhaustion of the ones foreseen for each campus (respectively for boys and girls).

Students enrolling in years subsequent the first one, in the first year of a master degree and in the first year of a specialization program or PhD. EDUCatt will form the rankings in accordance with the final score assigned by the Commission. In case of same score, the student with the lower income range will take precedence; in case the income range also coincides, the younger students will be the better placed one.

6.1.2 Criteria for the acceptance of the preferences expressed by the applicant as to the choice of the residential college

EDUCatt will accept the preferences expressed in the online application taking into account:

the final score assigned basing on test and interview; the opinion of the commission concerning the student’s inclination to take

part in the educational purpose of the structures on campus; the preferences expressed by the student as to the typology of structure

(college/residence); the actual availability of places in each residential college. EDUCatt cannot guarantee the acceptance of all applicants’ preferences.

5 This refers to students who are admissible for the assignment of a place in one of the structures of the campus where they are enrolling. The assignment of the specific residential college will be defined at paragraph 6.1.2 of the call 6 In order to include the applicant in one of the two ranking, EDUCatt will take into account the information related to the family unit’s economic situation provided ONLY within the dates when the applicant takes the test.

Page 11: APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AND REGULATION Milan Brescia

Call for Admission and Readmission 2018 Pagina 9 di 34

6.1.3 Acceptance of the place in the residential college and management of the waiting list The results of the selection process will be communicated by email to all the students (admissible, included in the waiting list, non-admissible).

Admissible students accepting the assigned place must: pay the first installment of the yearly accommodation fee, by the deadline

indicated in the communication for the admission (the amount is specified at paragraph 9.1 of the call) and send a copy of the bank transfer to EDUCatt via email or fax;

after the first step, the student must sign the binding agreement between EDUCatt and themselves and pay the remaining installments according to the deadlines indicated at paragraphs 10.1.1 and 10.1.2 of the call.

Admissible students not performing the aforementioned mandatory steps will be classified as willing to leave the structure. If you need to go deeper into details about modalities and conditions of the formation of the rankings and the assignment of a place, please refer to the Italian official document for the call.

6.2 Requirements for the readmission in the Residential Colleges

6.2.1 General requirements

a. Students applying for readmission for the entire academic year The categories of students who have the right to the readmission, if they apply, are the following ones:

student enrolling in a year until the first one after the regular duration of any degree course in a.y. 2018/2019 (N.B.: students living in a residential college that were already hosted during the first year after the regular duration of their bachelor degree cannot be then readmitted in the first year after the regular duration of their master degree);

students enrolling in a regular year of a specialization program in a.y. 2018/2019;

students enrolling in a regular year of a PhD course in a.y. 2018/2019, activated through the following law Decreto Ministeriale 3 July 1998 n° 210 art 4.

b. Students applying for short-term readmission The students previously admitted in one of the residential colleges during a.y. 2017/2018 have the right to apply for the short-term readmission, just for some months of a.y. 2018/2019, ONLY IF available in the selection when filling in the online form. The possible acceptance of such requests will be communicated by the end of September.

c. Students previously hosted with interruptions during their stay (due to the participation in a study program abroad) Indipendently from their belonging to one of the aforementioned categories “a” and “b”, these students can be readmitted, only if the merit requirements are met and the interview has a positive outcome.

6.2.2 Specific requirements for the readmission

The students have right to be readmitted only if: a. they respected the internal regulation of the residential college and actively

participated in the project and if the interview had a positive outcome;

Page 12: APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AND REGULATION Milan Brescia

Application requirements for the call for admission or readmission a.y. 2018/2019

Pagina 10 di 34 Call for Admission and Readmission 2018

b. they met the merit-based requirements (see table with academic credits for each year).

c. they stayed in the residential college for the entire preceding academic year except for the cases of paragraph 6.2.1 c of the call;

d. they don’t have debts or other pending administrative issues with EDUCatt (e.g. pending payments from the previous a.y.);

e. they paid the first installment, as specified at paragraph 7.2 of the call.

Who else can apply for the readmission: students enrolling in the first year after the regular duration of a master degree that were already admitted as first year of prescribed time of a bachelor degree, only if they graduate within summer (July 2018). The readmission depends on the availability of places: students regularly enrolling in the most advanced year of degree course take precedence on the others. Students enrolled in a year after the regular duration of their degree course follow the regular ones in the rankings. In case two or more students have the same score, the precedence will be determined according to the following criteria:

1. the student with the lowest income; 2. the student with the furthest residence; 3. the younger student.

Students already enrolled in Università Cattolica that intend to transfer to another campus are automatically readmitted but need to communicate it to EDUCatt as soon as possible and, anyhow, by the deadline of the application for readmission. The assignment of the structure will take into account the availability of places and will be effective only after the interview with the board managing the specific residential structure.

The assignment of a place in the residential college to readmitted students EDUCatt will inform the student through official communication of readmission. Afterwards, EDUCatt will provide the students with the binding document, summing up the economic details, in compliance with the fees as specified in the section “SPECIFIC DETAILS FOR EACH CAMPUS”.

N.B.: The readmitted students that don’t fulfill the aforementioned steps will be considered as not intending to stay in the residential structure.

7. DEADLINES AND MODALITIES FOR THE APPLICATION SUBMISSION

7.1 Deadlines for the application submission for ADMISSION

As far as it concerns the deadline for the application submission for the admission in the residential colleges, reference must be made to the section related to each campus.

WARNING: In case the application is perfected after the foreseen deadline (e.g. the certification “ISEE” is not available or compliant, etc.), EDUCatt will take into account only exceptional situations and only if there is an explicit request by the applicant. Only the documentation received by September 2018 will be evaluated and, in case of acceptante, the students will have to pay an extra fee of € 100.00 for administrative expenses 7.

7 Only for admitted students.

The whole deposit or part of it will not be given back to the student in case of damages, missing items, pending fee payments;

9 The amount of the adjustment to range C will be halved for:

- The beneficiary students enrolled in the first year after the regular duration of their degree course (therefore they will have half of the amount of the scholarship);

Students staying in a structure offering food service must pay 1/10 of the food service fee for each month they stayed there, further than the aforementioned accommodation fee.

10.2 Payment of the fee for students staying for some months, ref. paragraph 6.2.1.b

This category of students must pay the entire amount in one time before the beginning of the stay via bank transfer on the bank account indicated at paragraph 10.1.2. The purpose of the transfer must contain the details specified by EDUCatt. If the student decides to leave the college before the end of the stay, EDUCatt won’t refund them, except for the possible amount related to the food service fee.

10.3 Verifications on the admissibility requirements during the academic year

If the merit-based requirements aren’t met by a student already staying in a residential college11, this can be allowed to stay, only if they made a formal request and this is accepted by the board directing the structure. The conditions for the student to stay include the payment in compliance with fee D** plus the forfeit increase of € 600.00. Otherwise, they will be required to pay the same amounts but they will be forced to immediately leave the assigned place free. The students enrolled in the course “Medici Interni Frequentatori” in Rome campus applying for admission and self-declaring to enroll in the first year in a.y. 2018/2019 will be increased the fee to D**, in case they don’t actually enroll.

10.4 Expulsion from the residential college

The student can be expelled from the structure if the serious cases foreseen in the regulation take place. EDUCatt is not required to pay the student back the amount for the months already paid but not spent in the structure. In case of expulsion the procedure follows what foreseen at paragraph 10.1.3 for students leaving the residence or college earlier than expected.

10.5 Assignment of the rooms

EDUCatt cannot guarantee the satisfaction of all students’ preferences as to the room, where the residential college has different options available (single, double, private bathroom, etc.). The assignment of the specific room typology takes into account the availability and the characteristics of the structure as well as the possible medical documentation, if provided by the deadline for the submission of the application for admission or readmission in the selected campus. The assignment is responsibility of the board managing the structure and cannot be contested. During the assignment of the place in the rooms, no further documentation will be evaluated but the one provided by the deadline for the submission of the application for admission or readmission.

11 E.g.: the student did not actually enroll in the university or differently from their self-declarations, they didn’t meet the merit-based requirements.

10.6 Other conditions

By the last day of their stay in the residential college, the student must: leave the room free from all their personal belongings; let the staff check on the conditions of the rooms and its furniture; hand the key/badge at the reception.

If they don’t perform one of the aforementioned tasks, they will lose the right to the refund of the deposit and in case of damages, they will have to pay extras to cover the expenses. EDUCatt can also decide not to give back the deposit in case of pending payments. Students admitted during the academic year will have to pay a fee corresponding to the number of months they spend in the residential college, as well as the entire amount for possible internal activities and changing of bed linen. The monthly amount is conventionally considered as a 1/10 of the whole fee; a stay from 0 to 15 days corresponds to 1/20 of the yearly fee (half a month), whereas starting from the sixteenth day of a month all the monthly amount is due. Admitted and readmitted student accepting the assigned place must physically move into their room within three days after the official start of the lessons. Only in case the student is seriously prevented from being there on that date, they can explain the situation to the person in charge for the management of the structure and agree on the new check-in date, which however cannot be later than 20 days from the beginning of the university courses. Otherwise, they will lose their right to the assigned place. Damages to people or things will be attributed to all the students living in the structure, except if any individual responsibility is certified. EDUCatt is not responsible for possible robberies or damages to personal belongings stored in the structure at the end of the academic year, in view of the readmission for the following academic year (in the residential structure where this opportunity is given). Possible personal belongings left by students not readmitted in a.y. 2019/2020 can be picked up until 15 SEPTEMBER 2019. Later on, such belongings can still be picked up until 31 OCTOBER 2019, but 5 € per each day of storage will be withdrawn from the student’s deposit. Starting from 1 NOVEMBER 2019, EDUCatt itself will proceed to the disposal of the possible personal belongings that have not been picked up and 200.00 € will be withdrawn by the student’s deposit.

11. OPENING PERIOD OF THE RESIDENTIAL COLLEGES The opening period of the residential colleges is conventionally set on 300 days, from the beginning of September to the end of July, closing during holidays (Christmas and Easter). EDUCatt can slightly modify the dates, taken into account the academic calendar. Newly admitted students can move into from the Sunday before the start of the lessons and in the case of Milan campus, not before 6 September 2018 due to organizational reasons. Readmitted student can move into their rooms in compliance with their exams dates, and as agreed with the staff of the structure. During those times when only few students are still on campus, it could be agreed to leave only some structures open and temporary host them somewhere else. This also applies to the food service: they may have to go to other structures at the same conditions. EDUCatt may accept requests for a stay during the closing period only after having verifies the availability of a structure and charging the student an extra contribution in relation with the length of the stay and the benefited services.

The verifications can be made within 5 years from the infraction, as better specified in the Italian official document for the call. The penalties consist in paying back three times as much as the benefited amount to the institution providing it. In case of false or mendacious declarations, EDUCatt can decide on the penalty to apply: in the worst case it implies the expulsion and the payment of the highest amount of the entire yearly fee (fee D**).

13. PRIVACY POLICY (REGULATION EU 2016/679) EDUCatt - Ente per il Diritto allo Studio Universitario dell'Università Cattolica is the owner of the students’ personal data.
