Carey Elizabeth Landwehr (Chickasaw),B.S. and M.B.A. (Friends University) servedas development coordinator for MayflowerClinic, a non-profit health clinic providingfree healthcare to the uninsured andunderserved in Wichita, Kansas. Herfellowship placement is with the HarvardUniversity Native American Program(HUNAP).

Grace Benson, B.S. (University of Virginia)and Ed.M. (Harvard Graduate School ofEducation) previously worked at the MITSloan School of Management as a member ofits Donor Relations and Global Engagementteam. Her fellowship placement is in theHarvard College Fund.

*Sujata K. Bhatia, B.S. and M.ChE(University of Delaware) and M.D./ Ph.D.(University of Pennsylvania School ofMedicine) is the assistant director forUndergraduate Studies in BiomedicalEngineering at Harvard; she is the academicadvisor for all Harvard undergraduatestudents in bioengineering and biomedicalengineering. Dr. Bhatia is a resident fellow.

Jenny Bordo, B.A. (Bowdoin College), M.A.(New York University) worked as a projectcoordinator in the International Division atJohn Snow, Inc. (JSI), an international publichealth consulting organization headquarteredin Boston. Her fellowship placement is inSouth Asia Initiative.

*Laila Flores Cervantes, B.A.(Universidad Panamericana) and Ed.M.(Harvard Graduate School of Education) iscurrently a placement specialist at LASPAU:Academic and Professional Programs for theAmericas. Ms. Cervantes is a resident fellow.

THE ADMINISTRATIVEFELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Harvard University's Administrative Fellowship Programseeks to attract talented professionals, and inparticular members of historically underrepresented

groups, to promote leadership opportunities and careers in highereducation. In addition, the University encourages applications fromindividuals from all backgrounds and is committed to increasing the“pipeline” of talented individuals and professional opportunities forthose interested in careers in higher education and administration. TheAdministrative Fellowship Program offers a twelve-month managementexperience complemented by a professional development program. Inparticular, the Program provides participants with opportunitiesto enhance their professional experiences by both working within anacademic environment as a mid-level administrator and working inan area that broadens and deepens previous opportunities. In theend, the Program seeks to enrich and diversify the field of highereducation and the Harvard community by increasing the pool oftrained administrators with more individuals drawn from historicallyunderrepresented ethnic groups.

Now in its twenty-fourth year of operation, the Program drawsdistinguished Fellows from business, government, education, andthe professions. Each participant receives a salary with all costs forthe required educational seminar series covered by the University.However, participants must secure and cover the cost of theirhousing. Fellows will participate in a seminar series in addition to afull-time work assignment. Seminars, lectures, and case studieshave been designed to enhance management and administrativeskills and to assist in self-assessment and development. The overallgoal of the education program is to encourage Fellows to assess theirown career development and to generate strategies for advancement.

The 2013-14 Program will begin in September. Reflecting theacademic and administrative diversity of the Harvard community,assignments for each Fellow will differ. The Fellows will be placedin various schools and departments throughout the University.However, individual fellowship needs will be shaped by consideringboth the school's or department's needs as well as the participant'scareer experience. Fellows are strongly urged to obtain leaves ofabsence from their current jobs. While the University will make everyeffort to place successful participants, there is no guarantee ofpermanent Harvard employment upon completion of the Program.

Angela Lifsey, B.S. (Emerson College) is atalent management and diversity recruitmentconsultant with a Board Certified Coachdesignation from the Center for Credentialingand Education; a Professional CertifiedCoach (PCC) and part-time consultant focusingon helping organizations; universities, andindividuals learn and excel through customizedmentoring and coaching, and staffingprograms. Her fellowship placement is with theFAS Human Resources.

Jon Moorehead II, B.B.A (University ofToledo) and Ed.M. (Bowling Green StateUniversity) work experience includesteaching high school, serving as anAcademic & Enrollment Advisor withColumbus State Community College, andprogram management experience withalternative education initiatives at the K-12level. His fellowship placement is with TheHarvard Foundation, Harvard College.

*Sarah Morton, A.B. and Senior Fellow(Dartmouth College), M.A. (University ofSussex) is currently the administrativedirector of the Harvard Prison LegalAssistance Project (PLAP) and also servesas the co-chair of the Harvard Law SchoolClinical Standards and Practices TaskForce. Ms. Morton is a resident fellow.

Timothy Niu, B.S. (University of California,Los Angeles), and M.B.A. (Babson College)served in positions responsible forprogram/project management(domestic/international), financial/costmanagement, operations, marketing, logistics,and contract negotiations in both start-upcompanies and international non-profitorganizations. His fellowship placement is atHarvard Medical School-Portugal Program.

*Elise Noel, B.A. (Bentley University)and Ed.M. (Harvard Graduate School ofEducation) is currently the student programsand outreach officer in the Committee onAfrican Studies. Ms. Noel is a residentfellow.
