You will need: Apples Worksheets Crayons or Markers Peel half of the apples, leave half unpeeled and place on a cookie sheet in your classroom. Discuss the similarities between the apple peel and our skin (especially its protective factors). Have students document their observations of the apples on Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4 and Day5. Discuss the germs that they see (molds), and how easily they attacked the apples with no “skin”. Why did it take longer for the germs to grow on the apples with “skin”? How do we protect our skin? Clean Hands Stop Germs.
