i. Different communities had their identified roles in making village self-contended .ii. There was mutual cooperation between Koeri & Badhai community.
iii. Thakurs and Brahmins provides lands to Koeris on lease.
Q3. Suggest possible strategies to minimise the effect of divisive indicators.
Ans:
i. Involvement of women in the meetings should be taken into consideration.ii. Instead of totally shifting their focus to vegetable cultivation badhais should also have
freedom to take required amount of wood from forest.iii. President should be given power to control the meeting.iv. As the village is connected with district head quarter with metal road so they can sell
their product in district market which may solve the problem of low price due to competition.
v. Shift from barter to cash centric transaction limits the interaction among the rural people to market hence meeting should be held at a regular interval and interaction among villagers should be encouraged.
Q4. Support your suggested strategies with facts available in the case.
Ans:
i. People from other cast together were very important as they in most of the cases had shown loyalty towards a common person or a political party.
ii. Although they have different caste (old Verna) villagers were happy and living with total harmony.
iii. Almost 40% of the badhai community took the vegetable cultivation, with the enthusiastic support from their Koeri counterparts, and agriculture department they could harvest a very good crop.
iv. Land owners were happily agreed to lease the land to the Koeris and with a good harvest land owners were happy to give more lands on bataidari.
v. Relationships among women remain unchanged and they appreciated each other’s problems and limitations.
vi. Slowly, villagers could find the alternatives of steel made products instead of wooden house hold products. Badhai wanted to go back to their original work but they could not because demand of their product has almost vanished and forest department has also become stricter in terms of forest products.
