Event Report

Asia Pacific Conference is the largest annual regional conference of AIESEC in Asia Pacific. Asia Pacific Conference 2013 took place in Singapore, consisting of a series of major events from 23rd to 29th March 2013 aimed at further developing the leadership qualities of and promoting collaboration between youth leaders both in Singapore as well as Asia Pacific. With over 250 Asia Pacific and 200 Singapore talented and passionate youth leaders attending, a culturally diverse environment is created for the sharing of different ideas and perspectives.

Entities participating in Asia Pacific Conference include Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Mainland of China, India, Australia, New Zealand, Mongolia and Singapore.

• Date: 25 March 2013 (Monday) • Profile: 450 youth from Singapore and Asia Pacific

About Asia Pacific Conference 2013

Having taken place on the 24th of March 2013, Youth Leaders Summit was an

event that sought to engage Singapore youth in key Singapore issues. It was

organised by AIESEC Singapore, a member entity of AIESEC, the world’s

largest youth-led organisation founded in 1948.

YLS 2013 is established in part in response to the government initiative of

National Conversation. It will feature over 8 hours of intensive networking,

discussions and call for action for 125 students from Singapore and Asia

Pacific aimed at conversations and concrete action plans on key Singapore

issues which revolve around Education, Economy and Community. This

provides the platform for stakeholders to interact with Singapore and regional

youth leaders, government bodies and companies towards the common goal of

an inclusive and dynamic society.

Overview �

The YLS 2013 agenda is designed to provide the maximum leverage for youth

and partners to interact, converse and act upon the key Singapore issues of

Education, Economy and Community.

YLS 2013 provides a platform for stakeholders to be immersed in the cultures and

perspectives of Singapore and Asia Pacific communities as well as learn and

engage in discussions of key trends affecting society today.

Driving Momentum onto the Global Frontier The 21st Century belongs to the Asia Pacific region as it is witnessing the rise of not

only the giants of China and India, but also sub-regions such as Southeast Asia. As

the region continues to grow and expand, youth and businesses alike have to keep

up with the fast pace of advancement and equip themselves with skills that are

essential to bring the region to the forefront of the world stage.

The inaugural Asia Pacific Youth to Business (Y2B) Forum organised by AIESEC

Singapore will therefore serve as a platform for two-way interaction and

collaboration between youth and businesses in Asia Pacific for Asia Pacific.

Forum Tracks �

The Asia Pacific Youth to Business (Y2B) Forum consists of 3 parallel forum tracks dedicated to different socio-economic issues affecting Asia Pacific today. These are Entrepreneurship, Corporate Responsibility and Innovation. The forum was attended by over 300 youth leaders from Singapore and Asia Pacific.

Entrepreneurship Youth identifying opportunities in the world and acting on it by starting new companies. The topic is about supporting a new generation of entrepreneurs to see ‘problems’ as ‘opportunities’, take action to identify the solutions and help create more value in society.

Corporate Responsibility What is the role of youth in Corporate responsibility? Companies are addressing the social, environmental and economic impacts of their operations. The topic is about what youth are aware of and thoughts on how they can support a sustainable future together with the corporate sector.

Innovation Innovation plays an important role in the world we are living in today. New ideas can be translated into new experiences and solutions. The topic is about how youth can bring innovation and generate ideas that can connect businesses to the future needs of society and more specifically the needs that generation Y and Z have.

The keynote speech for Asia Pacific Youth to Business Forum was addressed by Mr. David Chua, President of Genting Hong Kong Limited, a leading global leisure, entertainment and hospitality corporation. Mr. Chua, before being appointed Director of Genting HK, has held key management [positions in various international securities companies in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Asia Pacific Youth to Business Forum Chair

The Chair and Moderator for Asia Pacific Youth to Business Forum 2013 was Mr. Markus Keiper, Director of Global Marketing, Communications and Customer Relations at Rolls Royce Marine. Markus is also an alumnus of AIESEC, having held the position of President of AIESEC International in 1994-1995, and is now on the Board of Advisors of AIESEC Singapore.
