Personnel Changes To Highlight Chamber’s Annual Banquet
The Chamber’s Annual Banquet which is the organization’s highlight of the year is scheduled for Friday, May 1
st at the Fairborn I-675 Holiday Inn. The evening begins
with a 6:00pm social hour followed by dinner at 7pm. In addition to recognizing award recipients from the Chamber’s five major enti-ties along with special individual awards which will be presented by the Chamber, the event will mark the conclusion of Paul Newman Sr.’s stint as the Executive Direc-tor and usher in the beginning of a new Chamber leader, Paul Newman, Jr. On tap will be an awards program where selected honorees will be recognized by the City, the Fairborn Schools, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Wright State University, the Greene County Career Center and the Chamber’s Ambassador Club. Outgoing Chamber President, Terrie Miller will reveal the winner of the President’s Award. The major highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Jack Huelsman Civic Award named in memory of a former businessman who contin-ually demonstrated his dedication and generosity to the Fairborn community while being a leading member of the Chamber. Miller will pass the gavel to incoming President, Karen Huelsman, who will serve a two-year term at the Board of Director’s helm. Entertainment for the event will be provided by the Fairborn High School Jazz Improvisation Ensemble under the direction of John Goretta. Cost for the banquet is $45 per attendee and reservations can be made directly with the Chamber by calling 878-3191.
Chamber Solidifying Plans For Job Fair and Business Expo
The Chamber of Commerce has already begun finalizing plans for its second
annual Job Fair and Business Expo to be hosted on the Nutter Center concourse
from 11am to 4pm on Thursday, June 4th.
“Last year was our first attempt at this event,” said Chamber Executive Director
Paul Newman. “Our goal was to attract at least 40 exhibitors but we were pleasantly
surprised to have 70 vendors showcase their job opportunities as well as services or
products which they featured” he continued.
The major event change will be the title. Last year’s affair was billed as a
“Business Expo and Job Fair” presented by the Fairborn Area Chamber of
Commerce. This year’s event will be known as the “Greene County Job Fair and
Business Expo.” The major emphasis will be on organizations and companies in
Greene County with more of an emphasis on the job market.
Headlining sponsors included Teleperformance, Ali Industries, Handyman
Ace Hardware, Soin Medical Center and the Fairborn Development Corporation.
Special efforts will be made to retain support from those entities once again this
year. Sponsorships include a Title Sponsor for $2,500, a $1,000 Gold Sponsorship
and a $500 Silver sponsorships. Various marketing and advertising perks
accompany each level.
All vendors get a 8 x 10 booth space with a skirted table along with the
availability of electric for a fee of $85
