Dear Teacher, Thank you for downloading this Word Family Pack. These instructions show images from the ‘at’ pack, but apply to this pack also. Poster, Word Wall Cards and Cards The Poster and Word Wall Cards have been designed for display and reference purposes. Some uses for the matching cards include matching, sorting, playing memory, fish and snap. Preparations: simply print on paper and laminate for durability or print on card and cut. Word Family Wheel Preparations: Print on card (or paper and laminate) and cut around circles. Choose the top circle (to show picture and word, picture only or word only) and place on top of the word family circle. Pierce the center of the circles and attach fastener. Students line the picture with word (or just picture or just word depending on which differentiation circle chosen) and read the word. A generic recording sheet is provided if you wish students to record their spins with picture, initial sound and word. Word Family Flip Chart Preparations: Print on paper and back base word on card. Cut around each piece and glue onset one on top of the other. Students read word that the top onset and base word rime creates, then flips the onset and reads the next word. You may like to use the generic recording sheet along with this resource.

Read, Make, Write Mat Preparations: Print on paper and laminate. Using the small picture/word cards, students place card in the read box, then make the word using magnetic letters/playdough/scrabble letters and write the word with an erasable marker. ‘at’ book
Preparations: Print on paper and fold paper into eighths. Open paper out and cut slit in paper (across the top of the cover page and the ‘cat’ page). Pinch the pages near the slits to create four pages and fold shut to make book. Students draw matching picture on each page.
Interactive Notebook Preparations: Print on paper. Students cut around shape and fold outer pieces inward. Glue the center piece down in notepad. Students write matching word on the flip side of the picture. Worksheets A variety of worksheets have been included to practice the word family. Simply print and use as class lessons or in centers as desired.
