Foreword

Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) aims to protect and promote health in Saudi

Arabia by graduating competent healthcare workers. In order to attain this goal SCFHS has been

eagerly working on improving training outcomes of Post Graduate Medical Education (PGME).

Faculty development represents a cornerstone aspect to ensure optimum outcomes from PGME

programs. Trainers’ competencies in teaching and formative assessment are the key entrustable

scholar activities that enables any PGME program to attain its objectives.

“Train Of Trainer: On The Go” is a very promising initiative by SCFHS to meet the national needs

to improve competencies of faculty members. It gives me a great pleasure to welcome all the

participants in this important event. I would like also to thank Dr. Baraa Alghalyini, workshop

director, the workshop organizers, and the great faculty members of the workshop on their

tremendous efforts to bring this workshop to light.

Best Regards,

Dr. Sami Alhaider

Executive Director of Training

Welcoming You on the Go!

Dear Colleagues,

It gives me a great pleasure to welcome you to this innovative experiential learning challenge - the

“TOT on the Go” Workshop. In this manual, you will find very useful information like general

description of the workshop, your role assignment to each station, the workshop roadmap, and

others.

This is a one yet a very busy day of learning, discussion and networking opportunities. The unique

aspect of this workshop is that it is purely hands-on and typically uses a learners- centered

approach. The workshop was designed with integrated blinded inter professional model in mind.

This innovative model proved to be more effective and much enjoyable learning experience.

I trust you will value this innovative faculty development experience. Once again on behalf of the

“TOT on the Go” team and myself I would like to welcome you and look forward to meeting you

all soon.

Good luck!!

Baraa Alghalyini, MD, CCFP, MHSc,

b. The Teaching Workshop

Goal Objectives Pre-workshop reading Materials

&Resources

Prepare participates to create teaching and

Learning opportunities in a busy clinical

practice

Introduce participants to a broader scope of

teaching methods, which can be applied in

different clinical settings like ambulatory,

bedside and during procedures.

Participants will be introduced to “1 min

Preceptor” teaching model by reading the

educational materials sent to them prior to

workshop, then demonstrate skills using

this model through interactive activities.

Appreciate the importance of using the

most appropriate teaching technique in

different settings; those, which address

psychomotor skills, direct observation, are

being few examples.
