She found her sweetest delight in being united with God by prayer and pious practices, and her favorite occupation was to serve God in His poor and sick members. Elizabeth was a princess of the Kingdom of Hungary and a greatly venerated Catholic saint who was an early member of the Third Order of St. Francis, by which she is honored as its patroness. Elizabeth was married at the age of 14, and widowed at 20. After her husband's death she sent her children to be with relatives and used her dowry to build a hospital where she herself and her servants served the sick. She became a symbol of Christian charity after her death at the age of 24 and was quickly canonized.

Fraternal And Pastoral Visitation The BSSF REC members  who  conducted our fraternity's fraternal and pastoral visitation on October 24th and 25t were: Area 3 Councilor Carmen Madero, OFS, Fraternal Observer; Regional Lay Spiritual Assistant, Willie Guadalupe, OFS,   Pastoral Visitor; Regional Minister Jerry Rousseau OFS, Fraternal Visitor. Wille met with Father Doug, our Spiritual Assistant. It was a delight and a blessing to have our REC visitors with us. The visitation was informative and beneficial for the spirituality and growth of our fraternity. We wished Jerry well in his new position as NAFRA Treasurer. as well as for Willie who will be a NAFRA councilor. Part of the discussion over the weekend included the procedure for obtaining a new spiritual assistant for our fraternity. The visitors also actively participated in our initial and ongoing formation sessions. Our ongoing formation provided an introduction to St. Francis’ Canticle of Brother Sun, a spiritual reflection on St. Bonaventure’s theology of creation, and small group discussions and sharing about how we can serve as “Environmental Peacemakers”. Special thanks to our fraternity members who helped to plan and provide refreshments for our visitation.
