Self-Care Summer!

One of the best ways to nurture positive social emotional development is to make sure we model it ourselves. Self-care is so important to be able to do this because too often if you do not focus on yourself enough you begin to show signs of stress, outbursts and burnout. Practicing self-care may look like rest and relaxation to some or keeping a daily journal for others. There really is no wrong way as long as it is healthy and feels good to you. Always remember, you cannot pour from an empty cup so practice filling your cup this summer! Contact me if you need help with children exhibiting challenging behaviors, social withdrawal, frequent emotional outbursts, and other concerning emotional or behavioral signs/symptoms (who are enrolled in state licensed daycare settings). This is a free support available to children, families, caregivers and daycare staff to support social-emotional development and to promote positive mental health in children ages birth to five and their caregivers

EXCLUSIVE TRAINING OPPORTUNITY! Child Development Resources will be offering our Childcare Professionals the opportunity to

attend a training presented by Daniel Hodgins, Early Childhood Consultant

Daniel Hodgins is an exceptional presenter and author of two popular released books titled: Boys: Changing the Classroom, Not the Child and GET OVER IT: Relearning Guidance Practices. As a consultant he has a unique grasp of children and family issues learned

from over 36 years of experience working as a teacher, director, educator and parent in both private and public sector. In addition to his work as a Consultant, Daniel has worked as a Director of a Child Development Center; Parent Child Cooperative Nursery School teacher; a teacher in elementary school and most recently as coordinator of early childhood education at Mott Community College, in Flint, Michigan. He has given keynotes, seminars and presentations in over 48 states, Canada, Europe and Japan.

Daniel will join us via Zoom on July 27th. Please see page 19 to register.

“Play and Science Together” Play relaxes the entire body-brain system, which makes learning easier for both children and adults. Play involves explorations, trial-and-error, discovering systems, making connections, which are all similar to what scientists do. Scientists apply the strategies they have found to be productive in their problem-solving endeavors and abandon the more fruitless ideas, just as children do when they are learning about the world around them. Join Dr. Wesson to learn how to connect play and science together!

Kenneth Wesson is a former higher education faculty member and administrator. He delivers

keynote addresses in San Jose, CA, on the neuroscience of learning for educational

organizations and institutions throughout the United States and overseas. His audiences range

from early childhood specialists to university-level educators. His research is frequently

published and referenced in Parents Magazine, HealthNet, and the journal Brain World.

Dr. Wesson will join us via Zoom September 14th. Please see page 19 to register.

Child Development Resources will be offering our

Play relaxes the entire body-brain system, which makes learning easier for both children and adults. Play involves explorations, trial-and-error, discovering systems, making connections, which are all similar to what scientists do. Scientists apply the strategies they have found to be productive in their problem-solving endeavors and abandon the more fruitless ideas, just as children do when they are learning about the world around them.
