They all had their own personal sins, they all had struggles, and they all missed the mark of God’s standard. What we must also note, the sin of their lives did not become the defining mark of their lives! There are plenty of other examples that remind us of sin. Jeroboam committed greater sin than all before him. Samson sought only to provide for his own gain. The sons of Eli brought disgrace upon his father. All of these individuals lived lives of sin for the sake of sin. Your benefit to the kingdom can be great if you only recognize the fact God desires to use you as His servant. Place you life in His hands and allow the influence of His word and His Son to direct your steps and guard your heart. I hope you know, through this means, you too can become great in the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 20:26).

“I Hope You Know”

For inspiration, guidance, and comfort, often one

turns to the scripture to find these helps in life. When reading from God’s inspired word, we learn of

many who through their lives, served God faithfully, we at times compare their triumphs to our

struggles, wondering if we can ever measure up to

all they did for God and His glory.

We read of Abraham, who in Hebrews 11, is described as the father of the faithful (11:8-16).

Moses was the great leader of God’s people, delivering them out of the bondage of Egypt, and

into the Promised Land (Exodus 12:42). Then there

is David; the one whom we know was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22). Looking upon and

reading about these giants in the faith can cause us to almost feel inadequate when it comes to our own

personal service we offer up to God. What we

forget about these men is, they did not begin their respective walks as giants. They did not begin, they

became.

When Abraham began his life of service to God, he was both disobedient to God’s commands (Gen

12:1, 4), and lied when faced with difficult

situations, namely, fear for personal safety (Gen 12:12-13, 20:2). When God called Moses, he was

literally on the run from his past actions, having committed murder in Egypt and tried to cover it up

by burying the body (Exodus 2:11-13). David slept

with another man’s wife, and then had the husband killed through a great deceitful plot (II Samuel

11:4, 15).

Looking at all these examples, of God’s great

faithful men, we must realize they were no different than you or me. They all had their own

personal sins, they all had struggles, and they all missed the mark of God’s standard. What we

must also note, the sin of their lives did not

become the defining mark of their lives! There are plenty of other examples that remind us of

sin. Jeroboam committed greater sin than all before him. Samson sought only to provide for

his own gain. The sons of Eli brought disgrace upon his father. All of these individuals lived

lives of sin for the sake of sin.

Your benefit to the kingdom can be great if you

only recognize the fact God desires to use you as His servant. Place you life in His hands and

allow the influence of His word and His Son to

direct your steps and guard your heart. I hope you know, through this means, you too can

become great in the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 20:26).

THE END IS NEAR… of the school year that

is! We have begun to wrap up some of our monthly activities in preparation for our

many summer plans. We had our final Prayer Breakfast hosted by Luke Brown.

Thanks to David Brown for his chef skills

and the delicious breakfast. Thanks to all those who shared thoughts and concerns

for those on our minds. Also, thanks for the beautiful prayers by so many of our

young men! Next we wrapped up our Junior High Firesides for the school year

as Carolyn Alderson and her family hosted

the night. It was a fun evening with several games. We also had some

beautiful singing and focused our thoughts, as we have all year, on “being

One.” We looked at Matthew 5 and shared

about being lights and being leaders as we seek to be there for one another. Thanks

to the Aldersons for the food and to Misty Shelton, Griffin Elkins, Colby Shelton and Peyton Mathis for

their help with the evening. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE that the school year is almost

over and just a few more finales left. I want to challenge all

our Youth Group, especially our graduating Seniors, to take some time to enjoy the break. Also, and more importantly,

take some time to be alone with God. Take time to study His word and seek His wisdom, His guidance, and His ways to

live your life. Decide you will mediate on Him to follow His

path as never before. May God bless us all with an unforgettable summer of fun, growth, and dedication to Him.

follow His path, -Craig
