Turtle Rescue of New Jersey

Wildlife rehabilitation is filled with joy, heartache, challenges, and the absolutely breathtaking fulfillment of releasing healthy animals back to the wild. Every time we heal an animal, educate a rescuer, or help a child see the wonder in wildlife, we have an opportunity to change the world. Turtle Rescue of New Jersey (TRONJ) has spent 18 years caring for turtles – those fabulous, fascinating creatures that have been around for 200 million years. We provide medical treatment for ill, injured, or abused turtles, both native and non-native. We also educate people about turtles and tortoises to improve their care and treatment. Simply put, TRONJ wants to make the world a better place for turtles. TRONJ is located in Hardwick, New Jersey, and is the only wildlife rehabilitation facility in New Jersey that is dedicated exclusively to turtles and tortoises. Turtles from all over New Jersey are brought to us – turtles with fractured shells from car hits, trampled by horses, fishhooks embedded in their throats, that have lost limbs to lawn mowers, turtles from horrific abuse situations, and dozens of other cases. At the end of all of this comes the greatest joy of wildlife rehabilitation – releasing a healthy animal back to the wild! Thank you so much for wanting to help wildlife rehabilitators! For more information, please contact me at [email protected] or 908-362-7747.
