Glory be to Jesus Christ!

It has not been that long since the Lviv Business School became part of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) in 2008, but it seems to me as if it had been with us from the very inception of the university. Together with us, you set am-bitious objectives, you do not fear to accomplish them, and you change Ukrainian society consis-tently and persistently.

You are people who find time to learn and summon up strength to win and change Ukraine. Our country is in a dire situation, but we cannot forget for a single moment that everything is in our hands: we must be the owners of our land! No one will solve our problems for us. We must not rest. We must bend over backwards to trans-form our country and break the mold of the old system (corruption, social injustice, and impunity) because it caused the existing situation. I do be-lieve that together we will succeed.

I advise and request that you share your experi-ences, be open to the world, and transform the quality of human and business relationships. The sky is the limit. Continue setting ambitious goals, and God will give you the strength to accomplish them. Be strong today because tomorrow will be too late.

Bohdan Prakh Rector, Ukrainian Catholic University

Dear friends!

Today each Ukrainian has a task to accomplish to make our country better. People employed in civil service must implement reforms. Those responsible for defending our country must enhance its defense capacities. We as a business school must work together with business to make it more competitive. Entre-preneurship is also in the front line and wields enormous influence on the country’s economy. The well-being of Ukrainians largely depends on how competitive and strong our businesses will be as players in the global market.

Within LvBS, not only do we try to transfer knowledge and tools to our students, but we also try to shape their attitudes towards pro-cesses taking place beyond business boundaries. That is why our programs are developed at the intersection of business, philosophic, humani-tarian, and artistic environments. We know that in order to make informed and wise decisions, managers should press pause from time to time. The Lviv Business School is the right place to stop, reflect, spend some time among the like-minded, be exposed to various viewpoints, and then translate this experience into concrete decisions. To be able to move forward fast, Ukrainian society and business need trust. Within LvBS we create that environment of trust.

Ukraine has become known through the Revolution of Dignity. The eyes of the whole world are still on us. It is a unique opportunity for our businesses to demonstrate that they can be competitive players in the international arena. The slogan of the Lviv Business School is Growing Companies by Growing People. Year by year, our slogan is reflected more and more in specific individuals who carry out interesting and important projects and implement much needed changes, both for their businesses as well as the entire country.

Sophia Opatska Dean of the LvBS

First student driven business school in the world!

I want to encourage you to cooperate with the team of Lviv Business School of UCU to implement a new project aimed at creating a new business education model. Only by working together will we succeed in creating the first student driven business school in the world. I believe that through this model, in about seven years, the Lviv Business School will become the most cost effective and outstand-ing business school not only in Ukraine, but worldwide. Our task is to create a link between business and education as well as between the-ory and practice. Such cooperation may result in a new Silicon Valley arising in Ukraine — a place for generating innovations where entrepreneurs work side by side with universities. Business education must change and shift its focus on improving the performance of its students.

Be people of faith and action! The more far-sighted our thinking is, the better we will be able to plan our work for the next 12 months and understand our challenges and opportunities.
