Yes. Rainwater harvesting is being carried out in the campus. The rainwater from

filtered and let into one of the wells. This replenishes the well water and thus
mitigates any water problem that may arise.
Segregation of waste is being carried out. Separate bins are kept at various
locations and children have been trained to segregate bio and non bio degradable
wastes. The food waste and vegetable waste is put in vermicompost pit. The plastic
wastes are collected every Monday and given to local recycling units.
The Vidyalaya uses LED lamps in office and tubelights in classrooms and
staffrooms. Since the classrooms have plenty of windows , lights are rarely used
during classhours.
The Vidyalaya has a well maintained garden with a pond and plenty of avenue trees
including fruit trees and epiphytes growing on the trees. These trees are habitat for
many bird species including migratory birds. There is a medicinal garden including
plants corresponding to different Malayalam birth stars. The avenue trees provide
plenty of shade which creates a good ambience for outdoor learning. There is a
vegetable garden maintained by students. The vegetables are sold amongst the
students and staff. All the trees in the Vidyalaya campus have been identified with
scientific names and local names.

cloth or jute bags are used, fountain pens are used in the middle school and

items made with maida or white flour. Every student is taught the technique of
correct hand washing which is practised. Seminars by doctors are organised to
create awareness about personal hygiene and adolescent behaviour.

Conclusion
I conclude this report with the words of Ruskin “ It is not a question of how much we are to
