March11,2011.OurJapanEarthquakeReliefFundisnowover

structioninJapan.Finally,theSocietyonceagainexceeded

TwoyearsaftertheGreatEastJapanEarthquake,JapanSocietycontinuestoreceive
contributionstotheJapanEarthquakeReliefFund,includingawelcomedandmuch
appreciatedcontributionofover$500,000.Wearedeeplyhonoredbythetrustthat
hasbeenplacedinJapanSocietyandweareheartenedbythemanyAmericanswho
continuetoshowtheirconcernforthefutureofTohoku.
ReliefFundgrantshavefallenintofourbroadcategoriesofsupport:immediaterelief;
children;healthcareincludingmentalhealthcare;andcommunityandeconomicrevi-
talization.Initialgrantswereforimmediaterelief,andfocusedonlarger,intermediary
organizationsinTokyo,butinthisfiscalyear,thegrantsnowincludeagrowingnumber
ofgranteeswhoareTohoku-basedNPOs.Abouthalfoftheseorganizationsexisted
beforethedisaster,andhalfwereestablishedasaresultof3/11.

Silver Wind: The Arts of Sakai Hoitsu (1761–1828) was organized by Japan
Society. The exhibition curator was Matthew McKelway, Takeo and Itsuko
Atsumi Associate Professor of Japanese Art at Columbia University, New York.
Edo Pop: The Graphic Impact of Japanese Prints was organized by the Min-
neapolis Institute of Arts, with the contemporary art selections curated
for the New York presentation by Miwako Tezuka, PhD, Director, Japan
Society Gallery.
Contributors to Japan Society’s 2012–2013 exhibitions were the E. Rhodes
