The Job Placement Cell is run by Dept. of Students Welfare.

The Cell was formed to provide Job Opportunities to the SNDTites as soon as they complete theireducation. But the increase in the pace of life of this “Generation Next”, the cell also introduced “Earnwhile Learn Programme” through which our students work part time & earn income.

Through out the year, the placement cell contacts the corporate people for the vacancies at the sametime collecting the latest resume of our students to be maintained in the database and sending themto the industry as and when the vacancies arise.

The Job Placement Cell not only tries to locate the ‘Right Job for the Right Person’ but it also tries todevelop the personality of the students to fit them in the “Right Job” by carrying out the Life SkillEducation Programmmes, Leadership camps, Awareness Programmes like workshop on “Right toInformation” and Career Counselling.

The database of the employers is updated as and when the cell receives enquiry about the placement. The Job Placement Cell receives database of both the students as well as employers.

More than 156 colleges are under the Governance of S.N.D.T. Women’s University. From almost allthe colleges we collect the resumes of the Final year students to facilitate the campus interviews andtheir placement.

We segregate the resumes on the basis of the faculties i.e. for Arts students, Commerce students,Home Science students, Catering Students etc.

Maintaining a segregated database facilitates us to immediately send the CVs as per the Industry’srequirement.

Aptitude tests are given to see if you can be trained to do this job. It is merely an assessment of yourfit to a particular job-training program. It is not an assessment of your total life experiences or skills. The employer is merely trying to determine a fit between you & a specific job group. Keep in mind thatif you feel the test is an excessive strain or peculiar in logic, the job may also strain you in a similarway.

GROUP DISCUSSION

The purpose of Group Discussion is to find out whether you possess the critical qualities needed tobecome an effective manager. A Group Discussion test you in the following :

 Body language Communication Skills

 Self Confidence Team Skills

The Job Placement Cell

Listening Ability Ability to present your views logically

 Time Management

One of the most critical challenges of coming across as a good participant in a discussion is to havethe ability to see things from other person’s viewpoint and respect it even if you strongly disagree.

A Group Discussion is a wonderful challenge because you have a maximum of 20 minutes to show ifyou have it in you to become an effective manager.

INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES

These are some of the suggestions for facing interviews :

Offer your hand, and give a firm handshake, a pleasant smile and a positive and confidentattitude. Introduces yourself.

There is nothing worse than people playing with their hair, clicking pen tops, tapping feet orunconsciously touching parts of the body. Look the interviewer in the eye.

Take a seat facing the interviewer. Be sure that you are in a comfortable position. Look at theinterviewer directly. Sit up straight.

Use good grammar & a friendly tome. Never answer just “yes” or “no” to a question. Alwaysclarify, expand on your answers.

Be prepared to ask a few questions. Do not monopolize the interviewer’s time, particularly ifyou know they have appointments scheduled following your interview. Do ask thoughtful questions.Don’t ask about salary and interests this can be discussed when the company is definitelyinterested in you.

While giving answers to questions :

Be concise : Listen to the questions carefully and answer to the point. An interviewee ramblingon is likely to turn off the interviewer.

Provide Examples : Support your contentions with examples. Think of recent strong strategicexamples of work you’ve done, then when the question is asked, answer with specifics, not ingeneralities.

Be Honest : It is always better to state the truth than beating about the bush. If you don’t knowsomething then state the fact.
