My Fellow Members and Associates,
As I now complete my second and final year as your President, I am happy to report that many of our goals and initiatives (both
continued and new) as a Section continue to be met. Below is a snapshot of what we have accomplished in the past year:
• Completed our seventh Habitat for Humanity home (Indian River area) and now have plans to work on our eighth house in
Puerto Rico this summer. We are beginning the “back nine” of our goal to build one home in each of the 14 counties that
are represented by PGA Members in our Section. This is a very special and prideful program for us as a Section to be
involved in which allows us to enhance each of the communities that all of our Members live in.
• Continued success of PGA Hope, a program designed to provide golf instruction to military veterans. A big shout out to all
of the PGA Members and facilities who are involved in this program. Not many things out there that can be more
rewarding than to enhance and bring enjoyment to the lives (through golf) of those who served our country so that we
could enjoy the freedoms we all enjoy today.
• Continued record sales with the GolfPass program- thanks to all clubs who are able to participate in this program. Your
involvement is what makes the GolfPass program appealing and a great value to the consumer.
• Increased sponsor support across the board for our events- thank you to all of our vendors for your participation/support. I
would personally encourage all when considering all your buying for your clubs to please consider these companies and
representatives who are supporting us in our Section.
• Record high number of participants in the Junior Tours (Championship, Challenge, Prep, Links, Team Golf, Drive, Chip & Putt
and PGA Junior League)- another thank you to all the PGA Professionals and facilities who are involved in our Junior Golf
Space- it’s a cliché, but it’s true- this is the future of our sport and our businesses and the planting of these seeds now will
give us great dividends in the future.
• Participation in nearly all Section events are at decade high levels. It is great seeing so many of our PGA Professionals out
participating in the events that our Section Staff conducts for our enjoyment.
In addition to the dedication and contributions of the PGA Members for the above listed programs, much of the success of these
programs can be attributed directly to the commitment and dedication of our Section staff. Through the leadership of our Executive
Director (Geoff Lofstead) and Assistant Executive Director (Meredith Schuler) our team functions and performs all roles involved in
running our Section in a professional and caring manner. I am confident when I say that there is not a more dedicated or caring
team in the country. I would encourage all Members to take the time to get to know those who are involved in the running of our
Section- I am certain you will be left with the same impression I am left with- wonderful people who are very good at what they do
and truly care about their Membership and the offerings that they provide to us. Thank you to all in our Section office- each one of
you are very special to us and we thank you for all you do.
Prior to closing out this year’s letter, I would like to recognize and thank our career consultant, Kathy Grayson, for all of her efforts
within our Section. Paul Levy made it a priority of his three years ago to enhance our employment opportunities going forward for
PGA Members and we hit a home run in getting Kathy here in our area. If you have not spent time with Kathy to review your
“resume” or to discuss your career path- I encourage you to do so. Kathy is well versed in this area and is involved in many searches
for clubs here in South Florida and she can certainly share with you what employers are looking for and can give assistance in
helping guide you towards your own “Journey” and reaching all of your goals you have set for yourself within our wonderful
industry. I can say without hesitation that over my past couple of years that this is the area I have seen the most positive growth
and potential benefit going forward for our Membership in our Section!
In closing, though my tenure is finished as an Officer, I would like to thank all of the past committee leaders and those who
participated on those committees. Your involvement no matter how large or small makes a difference and allows our Section to be
better. I personally look forward to continuing to serve behind the scenes in any way that I can for our Section. My time on the
Board over the past 8 years has been some of the most rewarding, enlightening and fulfilling times of my career and I would
encourage anyone out there who has an interest in serving to do so. You won’t be disappointed that you did and I can assure you
that you will grow as a Professional and you will find it personally fulfilling and inspiring as well. Take care and I look forward to
seeing all out on the course soon and at our Section Championship in Vero Beach in September!
Fairways and Greens,
Don Meadows, Jr. President, South Florida PGA Director of Golf, Quail Valley Golf and River Club 772-299-0093 410-829-1485 (Cell) [email protected]

Report of the Vice President
2018 was a good year for the Section financially. The following areas will give you a good overall look at
the Section’s financial position:
OPERATIONS
The Section finished 2018 with $116,663 more than its pent and was $56,000 better than budget. The
chapter business in total had a $15,731 positive variance as well. However, our Short Term Investment
lost $32,508 resulting in an overall increase in net assets of $99,886.
FOUNDATION
The Foundation realized revenues of $719,582 and expenses of $701,678. The Foundation’s
investments also took a negative hit at the end of 2018 which decreased their value by $12,704. This
loss left the Foundation with an increase in net assets of $5,200 for the year.
INVESTMENTS
On our Statement of Financial Position, we show both a Short Term Investment line and a more long
term line titled Loan Receivable. The Short Term Investment is the money we have with Raymond
James, and this struggled in the fourth quarter of 2018. The Loan Receivable line is the money we have
with the PGA in their long-term investment program and it experienced a small decrease as well. Both
investments have rebounded this year and have made up their 2018 losses.
In addition, we approved the 2019 budget, which is comprised of a positive variance of $20,891 from
Section operations as well as a positive variance in Foundation business of $20,235 for a consolidated
net gain of $41,126. We have had a great start to our year and we look forward to a wonderful summer
of tournaments and activities across the Section.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of assistance in any way.
Respectfully submitted,
Karl Bublitz, PGA Director of Golf
Grey Oaks Country Club

1. Significant Accounting Policies
Principles of Consolidation The combined financial statements include the financial statements of the South Florida Section of the PGA, (“The South Florida Section”, a 501(c) (6), non‐profit, tax‐exempt organization), its three chapters, Southeast Chapter, Southern Chapter and Southwest Chapter and The PGA of South Florida Charitable Foundation. All significant intercompany balances and transactions have been eliminated. Affiliated Party The South Florida Section is chartered by The PGA of America. Under The PGA of America’s constitution, all members of The PGA of America must belong to both the National Association and the Local Section. The PGA of America is a separate 501(c)(6) organization. The PGA’s governance system is designed so that the 41 sections, including the South Florida Section, select the Board of Directors for the National Association. Revenue Recognition Revenue from tournaments is recognized when the event takes place. Revenue from member dues is recognized ratably during the year to which it relates. Revenue from all other activities is recognized at the time goods or services are provided.

Building 39 years
Leasehold improvements 7 years

Provision for unrelated business income tax, when applicable, is made for activities unrelated to the stated tax‐exempt purposes of the entities. Use of Estimates The preparation of financial statements in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America requires management to make estimates and assumptions that affect the reported amounts of assets and liabilities and disclosure of contingent assets and liabilities at the date of the financial statements and the reported amounts of revenues and expenses during the reporting period. June 7th, 2019 Report of the Secretary
It has been with great pleasure to work with the Section Staff and fellow Officers over the past two years. I would also like to thank Don Meadows for his dedicated leadership the past two years as he prepares to move into the role of Honorary President. In addition to Don, I would be remised if I did not recognize Karl Bublitz who will be elected as our next President and Mark VanDyck who will no longer serve as an Officer but will stay involved as our District 13 Director the next three year. I feel extremely fortunate to be able to work with each of these individuals and to have the opportunity to follow in their footsteps and learning as much as I can.
As your Secretary, I am responsible for adhering to the PGA Constitution in governing the Members of the Section, maintaining the minutes of all Section Board of Directors meetings and working with the Section Staff. I am honored that the Membership has entrusted me with these responsibilities.
Thanks to your support, our Section Tournament Program has continued to be of great success. The
large fields and added partner dollars, which is currently up 5% this year, provides enhanced purse
payouts and wonderful camaraderie. The capacity fields not only satisfy the competitive desires of
the players, but they also help to create a healthy environment of professional and social networking.
Finally, as an update on current membership numbers for our Section we currently have 1626 Members and 213 Associates, totaling at 1839 within our membership. This ranks us as the second most populated PGA section in the country.
In closing, I would like to thank all the South Florida PGA Section staff and entire membership for a allowing me to serve as a Section officer. As always, if I can ever assist anyone in any way, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Cheers,
Scott Kirkwood, PGA PGA Director of Golf Ocean Reef Club [email protected]

Foundation Report
June 19, 2019
I am very proud to report that the Foundation continues to positively influence the Communities that
we live and work in through our extensive programing.
The Foundation Board is excited to award our second $20,000 scholarship today to Claire Sattler. Claire
is from Bonita Springs, Florida and plans on attending Yale to study Biomedical Engineering.
Congratulations Claire, we look forward to following your collegiate career.
On behalf of the Foundation Board I would like to extend our extreme gratitude to the PGA Members
who volunteer their time to help conduct all of our programing. Your support of our programs is of the
utmost importance to their success. Thank you very much for your service to our communities.
The PGA HOPE program has served 485 Veterans since its inception and continues to help our Veterans
adjust to civilian life. This is an extremely meaningful way to volunteer your time. Please contact the
Section office if you would like to assist these great Patriots.
The Smiling for Life program continues to bring smiles to the face of young children throughout the
South Florida Section. Serving 1,100 children annually, this program gives the young people one hour a
week to forget about their illness and focus on having fun with golf.
We are very excited to announce that our eighth Habitat for Humanity project will be a refurbishment in
Puerto Rico. The project will begin in September. In addition, we will conduct a PGA Hope program while
we are there on our initial visit. This continues our goal of building or refurbishing a home in each of
county in the Section.
The Section Members should be proud of the effort the Section makes to grow the game of golf. Our
Junior Golf programs continue to be a big success. Our programs now span the full spectrum skill levels
from the very beginner to the competitive Champions Tour Players. A new junior can start with our 9-
hole Links Tour which has been designed as a bridge to Team Golf and PGA Junior League. Both Team
Golf and PGA Junior League continue to grow and offer a great fun and recreational entry into golf. As a
player’s skills develop, they can graduate to the Prep, Challenge and Champions Tour for 18-hole stroke
play competition. In all, our programs host 1,300 juniors last year. You can be confident that the Section
Junior Program offers a best value, high quality golf courses and most professional Junior events.
Thank you to the men and women that have given of themselves to help with the Foundation activities.
Your efforts are greatly appreciated, and we look forward to your continued support. Thank you to Quail
Valley Golf Club and PGA Professional, Don Meadows for hosting a Pro-Am in December to support the
Foundation. Thank you to the Brian Peaper and his staff at Lost Tree for hosting the Annual Foundation
Pro-Am. Our thanks also to Fort Lauderdale Country Club and PGA General Manager, Michael O’Brien
and PGA Director of Golf, Mark VanDyck for hosting the Spring Pro-Am to benefit the Section
Foundation. And a special thank you to all the PGA Members that have conducted a fund-raising event
to support the Foundation. We are very grateful for your confidence in our programing.
I would like to thank the Foundation Board for their support and dedication to the mission of the
Foundation. Your contribution is extremely meaningful. At the heart of the Foundation we have the
most unselfish leader in Geoff Lofstead. He continues to challenge us to be better, to do more and to
serve the Section Communities. Meredith Schuler is the hardest working woman in golf! Her dedication
to all Section activities is contagious. Michelle Goda has been a fantastic addition to the Foundation
Team and we look forward to working closely with her in the coming year. Thank you very much for your
dedication to our Foundation.

Report of the Executive Director The South Florida Section PGA experienced another year of growth in 2018 in both programs and finances. As has been the case for several years, the golf season was very busy for all of you with very favorable weather. Many of you have reported year over year growth with many of the snowbirds spending more time in South Florida. Financially the Section experienced another good year in 2018. Our Section business benefits greatly from our location in that it allows us to conduct a very successful GolfPass program which has experienced nine consecutive year over year records. In addition, the PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions, and Web.com tours are very active in our area during the winter months allowing us to generate additional revenue through the conducting of qualifying competitions. Our relationship with the tour stops in south Florida is critical to so many of the programs we operate and we thank all of them for their great partnership and support of golf in south Florida. The Foundation continues to offer programming that is having a positive impact within countless communities throughout the section. This year we will build our 8th home for Habitat for Humanity with this year’s project taking place in Puerto Rico. All of us in Florida understand the devastating impacts a hurricane can have and the island of Puerto Rico is still suffering from the effects of Hurricane Maria. Junior Golf continues to set new records with respect to participation as all three competitive tours (Prep, Challenge, and Championship) are seeing near capacity participation in the events. This spring, the team golf season saw the most participation since inception. Team Golf will pick up again this fall while PGA Junior league will be going strong in the summer months. Combined participation in Team Golf and PGA Junior league will ultimately lead to more kids than we have ever had involved in the team format for golf throughout the section. We have also introduced a Links Tour to help fill a void that exists for kids that have advanced beyond team golf but not quite ready for 18-hole stroke play competition in our Prep Tour. Lastly, we have an expanded number of Drive, Chip, and Putt qualifiers with 10 local qualifiers and 2 sub-regional qualifiers. The South Florida PGA GolfPass program set another record year of sales in 2018 with 8,944 memberships sold. Participating facilities continue to report a substantial positive impact to their bottom line during the summer months with the play of our GolfPass members. The program continues to grow participation in the game during the summer months and we hope to break over 9,000 sales for the first time in the history of the program. The Section tournament program has had a great start to the year and is in full swing on both the chapter and section level. I would like to thank all of the host facilities that generously allow us the opportunity to conduct activity. We all had a great deal of pride watching Justin Bertsch and Andrew Filbert play in the 2019 PGA Championship. In addition, we had Gene Fieger, Chris Kaufman, and Mark Mielke participate in the 2019 Senior PGA Championship with Mark making the cut and playing the weekend. The summer months are filled with many events that provide both great competition and well as networking opportunities and camaraderie with your peers. We have put together a great calendar of educational opportunities and continue to focus on preparing members and associates for the next move in their career. I would encourage you to take advantage of the education provided and to sign up for one of the various employment workshops we will offer. The past two years working alongside and with PGA Professional Don Meadows as the President of the Section has gone by extremely quick. Don is deeply committed to serving PGA members and it shows in the almost daily
conversations I have with him about Section operations. We continue to receive great leadership in the board room with our entire officer core including Karl Bublitz, Vice President, Scott Kirkwood, Secretary and Mark VanDyck, Honorary President. I would like to thank Ellen Breighner, Laurie Boddiford, Michelle Goda, Brett Graf, Jackie Hobson, Tracey Jackson, Danielle Muench, Chad Peters, Meredith Schuler, Dominic Smith, and Matthew Youngblood, as well as our summer interns Phillip Manceri and Cole Meschede for their extremely dedicated service to the Section. This group continues to raise the bar for many of our programs and services, consistently demonstrating their willingness to do more than is expected of them. It is a great treat to go to work alongside a group of all-stars that care very deeply for the job they do every day! In closing, I would like to thank the membership, board of directors, and officers of the section for giving me the opportunity to serve as your Executive Director. Respectfully Submitted,
Geoff Lofstead Executive Director South Florida PGA
Southeast Chapter President’s Report
Dear Fellow PGA Members and Associates,
The Southeast Chapter summer tournament series is underway and off to a great start. So far we have played three tournaments and have averaged 87 players per event up from the past few years. This year we have a fantastic list of tournament venues and I want to thank all those who have stepped up to make this happen. The 2019 season should be one of the best ever.
This year we have a terrific line-up of events with great courses and more sponsor dollars than we have had in a long time and we continue to add sponsors as the season moves along. Steve Sponder from Global Golf will host four events including the Boca, Jupiter, And Palm Beach Classics where has will not only donate $1,000 to each event but host a Closest to the pin for each event. On September 23rd he will host his 4th and final event with the GGS Finale at Iron horse Country Club. You must hold a GGS Players card to play in this event and Steve will match up to $7,500 in GGS players Cards making this the biggest event of the season. We have also added a Pro-Assistant event this year which will be held July 29th at Jupiter Country Club.
This season the Chapter, led by Shawn Costello and David Flinn, completed its first toy drive. The Board and these gentlemen, along with Meredith and Caitlin, had the opportunity to visit Palm Beach County Children’s Hospital at St. Mary’s Medical Center and deliver Christmas gifts to kids who were unable to be home. It was such an amazing experience for all of us and it is something that we will continue to do and build upon. We are working on being involved with another hospital and will continue to build the Southeast Chapter brand by giving back to our community. This year we are taking Chapter University back to the way it was run years ago where we have more events in a smaller window and hope to drive the number of professionals up. We are working on some fantastic speakers and we will market this to be successful. As I had said last year the Chapter board came up with a new system where we will assign everyone to one of the committees for a two-year term similar to the board. This gives everyone a chance to learn all aspects and give us a stronger Chapter.
I would like to thank Vice President Jeff Waber, Secretary Ben Bauer, and the other 13 professionals who volunteered their time to the chapter by serving on one of our various committees. If you have any interest in getting involved and helping us grow the Southeast Chapter brand, we would love to have you on board have all the details.
Sincerely,
Paul Clivio, PGA Director of Golf St. Andrew’s Country Club

This season's education program was formulated after consulting with the chapter educationchairs and gathering insights from a member education survey distributed in February. Fellow SFPGA Professionals and Associates,
It has been my pleasure to serve the SFPGA in the capacity of Junior Golf Chair for the last 4 years.
During that period of time we have seen continued growth of our programs and continued to improve
our offerings. The progress made has been down to 2 major supporting factors, the quality of staff that
the SFPGA continues to bring to our organization and the dedication of so many SFPGA Professionals
who give their time to Junior Golf. Not only do we enjoy the benefits of a hard working staff, they
display such passion and enthusiasm in what they do that it continues to inspire the next generation of
golfers.
The structure created by the SFPGA allows for a junior golfer to become part of our programming aged 6
and now can work their way up the pyramid and compete even when attending College. Players can
enter the system at the Team Golf level and now have the opportunity to move on up via the Links Tour,
Prep Tour, Challenge Tour and Championship Tour. Running alongside our main Junior Tour structure we
also have players competing in PGA Junior League and Drive, Chip and Putt. At time of writing the
numbers make for great reading this year so far.
Total Junior Tour Membership – 954 – 12% increase of year-
to-date Championship Tour – 146
Challenge Tour - 235
Prep Tour – 235
Links Tour - 25
Team Golf - 311
Drive, Chip and Putt – 720PGA Junior League – 429
While the staff play a major role in the implementation of each event, none of this would be possible
without 2 other very important ingredients, our partners and our Section PGA Professionals. Huge
thanks to our presenting partner The Honda Classic and supporting partners the Don Law Golf Academy,
Palm Beach County Sports Commission, Nike Golf Camps, Titleist, Pukka Headwear and Oasis
Championship all who have been so generous in their support of Junior Golf in South Florida. Their
backing allows us to create quality events at great facilities run by an exceptional team of staff.
A great debt of gratitude goes out to all the PGA Professionals in the Section who realize the importance
and value of junior golf in our area. We thank those Professionals who give our programs the wonderful
facilities to participate on. We applaud those Professionals who give up their time to come out and
volunteer at the now close to 125 events we administer annually. Most importantly the key individuals
in what we have so far accomplished are the PGA Professionals who inspire kids to play golf and
continue playing the game on a daily basis. Our PGA Professionals not only give the kids an opportunity
to start but keep them enthused while they learn this difficult game.
My closing remarks are clear and simple. The Game of Golf will not simply perpetuate itself. The actions
and dedication of our PGA Members and Associates is critical to the continued success of our game and
our business. On behalf of all those involved with Junior Golf in South Florida I ask that all South Florida
Professionals seek a means of assisting in any way possible. Whether you can act as a host, a volunteer
or most importantly as a coach you will be contributing to further growth and progress being made in
Junior Golf.
Again it is my pleasure to serve as the Junior Golf Chair and I am delighted to report on the great health
of SFPGA Junior Golf.
Respectfully submitted,

compete on a level playing field at the season ending Global Golf Sales Cup.
There will be eight (9) qualifying tournaments in which each player will receive participation points for playing. After
the eight qualifying events, the top 104 PGA Professionals who have accumulated the most participation points for the
year will qualify into the 2019 Global Golf Sales Cup October 3rd at Mayacoo Lakes. Each player in the field for the

We enjoyed a magnificent Pro-Official at St. Andrews Country Club. A superb, yet weather affected event at Grande Oaks
for the Fort Lauderdale Open, and most recently a record breaking event for the Pro-Assistant at Imperial Golf Club.
In closing, I congratulate our 12 PGA Professionals who already played in the PGA Professional National
Championship at Belfair located in Bluffton, South Carolina. Congratulations to our 2 Section Players Justin

District 13 Report – Patrick Richardson, PGA A lot has happened since your last South Florida Annual Meeting. The most noticeable changes were the PGA Championship move to May, headquarters relocation and a new CEO. Moving the PGA Championship to May is probably the most noticeable change to the golf industry. While this was an important step for future success another step was taken with the decision to move headquarters to Frisco, Texas. The move provides the best opportunity to serve our entire membership with providing a world class education center that will feature state of the art classrooms and teaching facilities that will be connected to the courses and practice areas. The hiring of Seth Waugh as our CEO will assist us to reach the goals of our association while his expertise to lead a large organization to a higher level of production is unmatched. Other important areas to highlight are the Nextgengolf agreement, PGA.Coach, American Development Model (ADM), Cadillac Agreement, Member Assistance Program and Rules Modernization are just a few. Please take the time to visit pga.org to learn more about these important topics. I would also like to welcome Renee Powell named first at-large director of board of directors. Powell brings a wealth of knowledge with the game of golf and experience serving on other national board of directors. By now you know how important is to me to see all of us succeed. I encourage all facilities to participate in PGA Junior League, DCP and any other golf initiative. Growing the game is important for the future of our game, additionally it increases employer satisfaction while driving a higher level of compensation. I encourage all of you to attend the National Annual Meeting in West Palm Beach this coming November. It’s an opportunity to see how our governance works and attend other special events that are included during the week of the meeting. The responsibility that is placed on a board member is challenging, but at the same time it is rewarding to represent District 13. As you can see we have had a busy and productive year and sure do look forward to a bright future for our association. Patrick Richardson, PGA Sea Island Golf Club District Director – District XIII [email protected]
