The University was established by an act of Nagaland State Legislative Assembly vide Act No.2 of 2006. The operations were commenced in the year 2007-2008 from a hired premises in Dimapur city offering MBA, BBA and BCA Programs. The University has come a long way since then by moving into its own permanent campus in Sovima village on Kohima National Highway. Keeping the interests and aspirations of youth of the region in view, the University started introducing more social sciences and commerce programs from 2013-14 onwards. As on date apart from above three programs BA (Pass & Honours), B.Com (Pass & Honours), BA (Library & Information Science), MA (Political Science), MA (Literature) and Ph.D (Management) courses are being offered by the University.

The University Grants Commission has vide its Notification No:F8-15/2009 (CPP-1) dated Nov. 14, 2009 empowered our University to award degrees as specified by the UGC under Section 22 of UGC Act 1956 as amended vide The Gazette of India No.27 dated July 5 -11, 2014. The University has been inspected by an expert committee nominated by UGC and AICTE during Aug 2014.

The University is striving hard to impart quality education to the local youth obviating their need to travel to far off places at a heavy cost to their parents.

The University has plans to introduce CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) to facilitate students to learn across the disciplines and plans are also afoot to start few skill based Certificate Programs from 2015-16 onwards. Both these initiatives are in line with the guidelines received from UGC. Our aim is to make the local youth employable and further help them in becoming good citizens of the country.

We at the University are glad to place on record the kind of encouragement and support being received from time to time from our Sponsoring Society ICFAI, and the Government of Nagaland, and we are grateful to them, for the same.

With its highly qualified faculty and excellent academic environment the University is receiving good response from students and parents and we are poised to become the ‘Best University in the Region’ soon.

The enclosed report gives the details of activities undertaken in the University during the year 2014-15.
