• Symptoms of ankle sprains and the sensations you feel can help your approach to treatment with physiokey.

• Inversion Ankle Sprains. The most common type of ankle sprain occurs when the foot is inverted, twisting inwards. When this type of ankle sprain happens, the outer, or lateral, ligaments are stretched too far. About 90% of ankle sprains are inversion injuries. Pain is always on the outside of the ankle.

• Eversion Ankle Sprains. The other type of sprained ankle is called an eversion injury, where the foot is twisted outwards. When this occurs, the inner ligament is stretched too far. Pain will be on the inner side of the ankle joint.

• Your treatment is always guided by the by the area of pain as well and associated symptoms of pain and limitation of movement.

• You can treat up to 3 times daily.

Slowly scan the ankle area related to the pain / dysfunction. Note that the scan area is larger than the area of complaint.

It is important to scan an area large enough to identify keypoints.

Tip: lymphatic drainage before treatment will greatly assist location of keypoints. Spend 3-5 minutes before treatment stimulating lymphatic drainage areas (e.g. lower lymphatic waves, pivot points etc. Suggested settings Individual, or Individual+ 200-460F

Target keypoints. Typically multiple keypoints will be exhibited. Focus treatment on keypoints that elect the greatest response (stickiness, colour, patient sensation, highest IR)

Treatment Guidelines: Bioregulation mode: brush in four directions, concentrating treatment on the most resistant direction. Diagnostic mode: measure IR values on and around keypoints, treat highest to Target value.

Additional treatment: Small Cross on painful point, single point method, dynamic point of pain method.

Assess by performing ankle ROM.

Direct patient through range of motion and functional activities, observing movements that elicit any pain and/or dysfunction.

Treat any points of pain elicited by above test by changing parameters of device and treating further.

Additional treatment: Lower limb star.
