Camera Corps
April’s theme is “Tranquil Transitions”. This
month is an exciting time to observe the
subtle pastel colors of spring emerging from
the melting snow silhouetted by soft dusk
skies. The world outside is coming back to
life so now’s the time to creatively capture the
transformation!
Try taking a step back for a wider camera
angle, and experiment with using paths and
roads to lead the viewer through the
transforming landscape. Take advantage of
the increasing daylight by focusing on
the leading lines and forms created by the
newly sprouting and blooming plants, but also
the various shadows they create. When the
spring weather creates fog and rain venture
safely outside to study its atmospheric
beauty or try finding a window perspective
from indoors to create depth between
the foreground and background of your
composition. More Information found here:

Governor’s Charity Steer Show
Once again, The
Cattlemen will be
sponsoring a calf
to represent
Johnson County
in the Governor’s
Charity Steer
Show during the
2019 State Fair.
The steer will be
selected by
committee
members at the 2019 Johnson County Fair.

events hosted by the Governor’s Charity Steer
Show and care for the animal from the time of
the county fair until the auction at the Iowa State

Proceeds raised from the Governor's Charity
Steer Show benefits the three Ronald McDonald
House Charities in Iowa. These houses provide
family members a place to call home, while
providing basic needs, so they can be close to
their hospitalized children. The Iowa Ronald
McDonald Houses are located in Iowa City, Des
Moines, and Sioux City.
Since 1983, the Governor’s Charity Steer Show
has generated over $3.2 million (equivalent to
over 270,000 nights stays) in support of Iowa’s
Ronald McDonald Houses. During that same
time, more than 44,237 Iowa families have been
served. Additionally, another 8,000 families
coming from all 50 states and more than 60
foreign countries have used the Ronald
McDonald Houses of Iowa.
If your family or business would like to be
included as a donor for the 2019 show, please
