CONSTRUCTION MANAGER & ALLIANCE 2IC 2006 to 2008

The Nyrstar / Zinifex Alliance is a joint venture which sees Zinifex merge their zinc, lead smelting and alloying businesses into Nyrstar, the world’s largest zinc metal producer and one of the largest producers of primary lead.

Oversaw a capital investment budget of $72million per year, identifying projects by priority which best met Alliance goals and objectives for performance and productivity.

Conducted constructability reviews during design, feasibility & preliminary phases.

Lead pre and post tender awards negotiations, and selection and management of contractors to ensure the safe delivery of construction outcomes whilst maintaining acceptable HR / IR.

Established, monitored and report against project KPI’s to all project sponsors and stakeholders

Appointed to lead the operational development of Roche Mining’s Mt Thorely Workshop Area, an operation which was required to support a significant growth plan by Roche in engineering services for the area.

Control of workforce up to ranging from 40 to 210 personnel skilled and unskilled.

Defined the business case and wrote associated proposals of capital purchases of up to $2million per item, with following responsibility for project management of capital equipment upgrades, fabrications, refurbs etc.

Managed the control and maintenance plan for a fleet of 14 to 50 tonne cranes, elevated work platforms, trucks and light vehicles also the workshop machinery maintenance programming.
