Ulster County Savings Bank Art Show

I wanted to send a “Thank You” to all of those who helped out the Art Program over the

past month with art supplies and materials, including Kathleen M. (Dir. Of Program Services),

Kendal W. (Rm. 119), Christine C. (Rm. 119), and Kathi K. (Rm. 123).

To all of you (and those of you that I may have missed)... I say, “Thank You!!”

As I write, plans are underway for another joint art show

with Expressive Outcomes (Anderson's adult art pro-

gram) and the AEC’s Children’s Art Program. It will

be held at the Red Hook (NY) branch of the Ulster

County Savings Bank and is set to run for the entire

month of April. An opening reception has been planned

(April 22nd 5-7pm) to allow the artists and community

members to mingle and admire all of the amazing art.

I will pass on the details as they are worked out. Please

check for further information via your e-mail and next

month’s edition of The Andersonian.

out of recycled/upcycled objects (As seen below).

Materials: Cardboard, Tissue Paper, Glue/Water, Tempera Paint (Red, White, Blue),

Newspaper, Tagboard.

Techniques: Stamping, Decoupage, Assemblage.

Last month, students created a few Valen-

future Noteworthy Card designs.

Three Hearts — Students learned how to

make a decorative deckled edge on paper,

in addition to practicing other collage tech-

Geometric Collage Students also created Geometric Collages using recycled paper. The directions were to

fit together the geometric shapes (squares and rectangles), like a puzzle, without over-

lapping the pieces. The resulting artwork has a quilt-like appearance (see pictures below).

Guided

Drawings

Continued

Many classes have been practicing their drawing skills over the last few months, through a

series of projects, including creating drawings following verbal cues only (ex. “Draw three

triangles”), by modeling/copying given examples (as seen above), and by creating a draw-

ing only given theme/subject (ex. “Draw a tree”).

Some St. Patrick’s Day themed guided drawings. (lft-rt.) A’vohn
