MY MUSIC MAGAZINE- ANNOTATED

Page 2: Analysisssssssssss

LOUD is in bright and multi coloured to link with the conception of Pop being very broad, with Pop artists using similar genres in their music. However, I wanted to be coherent with the fact that their music is Pop and they are still considered as Pop artists, which was done through all the colours having the same colour as an undertone (purple). The word ‘Loud’ was used as the Pop genre is at the forefront of music for youth (my target audience), so I believe the word ‘Loud’ suited well, as Loud suggests this.

The subheadings and purple borders were used to be consistent with the colour scheme of the title. I decided to add borders that resembled the volume of sound, to reinforce that this is a music magazine and to tie in with the speaker on the exclamation mark of my masthead. E.g..

To do reinforce this subtly, I decided to turn this vertically. Barcode

This sell line was added to give the reader a snippet of topics that will be featured in the magazine without them reading it yet. This was used also to attract a larger audience within my target audience, as people who may not be fond of the main artist featured, may still want to buy the magazine for the other features. However, this was put at the bottom of the front cover to reinforce that these are only the secondary stories and not the main.

I added the artists name in white and orange, to be consistent with my title and subheadings, and to also represent that she is part of the Pop genre. A subheading was used to indicate what will actually be featured and discussed in the article of the artists feature.

Price, Issue Number and Date.

Catchy Strapline to link to the catchiness of Pop music lyrics. Also, by saying ‘Love Pop Music. Love Loud’, it automatically makes the reader link Pop Music with this magazine.

FRONT COVER ANALYSIS

I chose a close-up of the artist to show that by reading this magazine, you will get a closer look into her lifestyle and personality.

Page 3: Analysisssssssssss

Contents in purple and white to show be consistent with the masthead.

Issue No.1 tilted vertically to attract my target audience who are outgoing, so as this gives off a quirky impression, this ties in with my target audience’s personalities. This is complemented by the 2 straps in purple and orange which again conforms to the colour scheme.

The picture of the artist who is the main feature is the biggest picture on the contents page to reinforce that she is the main feature. As we read from left to right, I made sure I positioned her on the left of the page, so she would be the first aspect of the contents page that the audience would see.

Regulars were added to show that they would be a degree of consistency with the type of topics seen, and to ensure that the audience would have something to look forward to monthly when buying.

Monthly Giveaway to attract the audience as they acquire things such as iPads to socialise etc.

Website and Issue date

Secondary Stories

Another picture to give the audience a snippet of what will be on the magazine, but smaller than the main artist’s picture as it is a secondary story.

To be consistent with the masthead, I underlined the headings with the colours from the masthead, to ensure that they are reading the same magazine.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD ANALYSIS

Three pictures used to inform the audience about the artist through posture and facial expression as well as text.

Text in black and orange to stand out and again be consistent with the colour scheme.

Picture to show that she loves music, which is seen through her holding headphones.

Artist’s name is coherent with how it is pictured on the front cover. Quotes enlarged to show that these quotes may interest the audience the most. It is underlined in purple to fit the colour scheme of the magazine.

Information on the artists album to convince audience to buy the single.
