THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

Reading is a complex cognitive process of decoding symbols in order toconstruct or derive meaning (reading comprehension).

The reading process requires continuous practice, development, andrefinement.

Reading requires creativity and critical analysis.

To read effectively, people may need some strategies to help their dealwith the text, there are several strategies are useful when people read.

ACTIVITIES THAT CAN BE USED IN READING

CLASSROOM

Scanning

When you scan, you have a question in mind. You do not read every word, only key words

that will answer your question.

Practice in scanning will help you learn to skip over unimportant words so that you can read

faster.

Skimming

It is a reading technique that can save you time and help you get through a text quickly.

People skim to get the general sense of a passage, not specific details.

When you skim, you should not read the whole text. Your eyes should move very quickly over

the lines and you should read only the parts of the text that will help you answer the

questions

Locating the Main Idea

One useful way to understand the main idea of a paragraph is to start by

identifying the topic of the paragraph; it is the subject under discussion.

Making Inferences

When you “infer” something, you are drawing an unstated conclusion from

the information that you already have.

Success at making inferences depends on the background knowledge and

the facts given in the text.

Thinking Logically

When you are reading, understanding the words is not enough to understand the

whole text. You need to be able to make logical connections between the ideas and

information in your reading.

Guessing Meanings from Contexts

When you try to guess the meaning of an unknown word, you use the text

surrounding the word –the context– to provide you with clues.

Sometimes you can guess the meaning of a word from other words within the

sentence but sometimes you may need to read several sentences in order to find the

clues.

Guessing will help you get a rough idea about the word while you are reading.

THE TEACHING LEARNING PROCCESS IN

EDUCATION

Education includes both the teaching and learning of knowledge,

appropriate conduct, and technical competency.

It centers of attention on the cultivation of skills, deals or professions, as

well as mental, moral and artistic development.

by teachers.

curricula.

examining the relationship among variables. In turn, can be measured.

Typically, on instruments, so that numbered data can be analyzed using

statistical procedures.

Qualitative research is The process of research involves emerging

questions and procedures. Data typically collected in the participant's

setting.
