Automobile/Automotive Mechanics Technology/Technician

A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, service, and maintain all types of automobiles. Includes instruction in:

brake systems electrical systems engine performance engine repair suspension and steering automatic and manual transmissions and drive

trains heating and air condition systems

This program prepares students for ASE Certification

Automotive Technology(related careers)

Farm Equipment Mechanic -- Maintains, repairs, and overhauls farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems.

Furnace Operator -- Operates and tends furnaces, such as gas, oil, coal, electric-arc or electric induction, open-hearth, or oxygen furnaces, to melt and refine metal before casting or to produce specified types of steel.

General Maintenance Repairer -- Keeps machines, mechanical equipment, or structures of an establishment in good repair.

Heat Treating Equipment Worker -- Operates and tends furnaces, flame-hardening machines, and electronic induction machines, to harden, anneal, and heat treat metal products or metal parts.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic -- Repairs and services mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of mobile heavy equipment such as bulldozers, graders, cranes, and conveyors used in construction, logging, and surface mining.

Home Appliance Repairer -- Repairs, adjusts, and installs all types of electric household appliances and tools.

Industrial Machinery Mechanic -- Diagnoses problems in production machinery and equipment.

Locksmith -- Repairs and opens locks, makes keys, and changes locks and safe combinations.

Machine Tool Worker -- Sets up and operates more than one type of cutting or forming machine tool.

Machinery Maintenance Worker -- Performs basic maintenance activities such as cleaning, adjusting, and lubricating to keep equipment and machinery in good working order.

Auto Damage Insurance Appraiser -- Appraises automobile or other vehicle damage to determine cost of repair for insurance claim settlement. Compare your selections

Automobile Mechanic -- Repairs automobiles, trucks, buses, and other vehicles, according to manufacturers specifications.

Automotive Body Repairer -- Repairs and customizes automotive bodies and frames.

Bicycle Repairer -- Repairs and services bicycles and related accessories. Career and Technical Education Teacher -- Teaches vocational and/or

occupational subjects at the postsecondary level. Diesel Engine Mechanic -- Inspects, repairs, and maintains diesel engines

used to power machines. Electric Motor/Power Tool Repairer -- Tests, repairs, rebuilds, and assembles

electric motors, generators, and related equipment. Electromechanical Equipment Assembler -- Assembles electromechanical

equipment or devices, such as gear trains, gyros, dynamometers, wave guides, magnetic drums, tape drives, actuators, and gearbox mechanisms, according to specifications.

Elevator Installer/Repairer -- Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains electric and hydraulic freight and passenger elevators, escalators, and dumbwaiters.

Engine/Machine Assembler -- Constructs, assembles, or rebuilds machines such as engines, turbines, and office machines, or equipment used in construction, oil fields, textile and paper manufacturing, woodworking, printing, and food wrapping.

Carpenter Helper -- Helps carpenters or carpentry-related craft workers by performing duties of lesser skill.

Construction Laborer -- Performs a wide variety of tasks to help skilled workers.

Construction Manager -- Plans and directs activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.

Construction Supervisor -- Directly supervises and coordinates activities of construction trades workers and their helpers.

This course prepares individuals to plan, supervise, and manage food and beverage preparation and service operations, restaurant facilities, and catering services. Includes instruction in:

food/beverage industry operations cost control purchasing and storage business administration Logistics personnel management restaurant and menu planning executive chef functions event planning and management health and safety insurance and applicable law and regulations

Students in this course follow the ProStart curriculum and prepares students for ServSafe Certification
