Daily Programme
Dhanyatman,
Srimad Bhagavatham authored by Sage Vedavyasa is a
detailed narration of the incarnations of the Lord interwoven
with stories and events which have deep rooted principles.
Listening Bhagavatham chanting of Lord’s praises and
meditating upon the principles embedded in the stories help
devotees reach the ultimate stage of devotion and attain the
true knowledge and happiness which is devoid of the sorrows
which are inseparable from the pleasures gathered from the
material world. Nearly five thousand years ago, at the behest of
Lord Brahma, Sage Sounaka and other Sages held the first
Bhagavatha Satram at Naimisaranyam on the banks of river
Ganga with the objective of bringing relief to the mankind,
which was under the evil grip of Kali. Both the present day
Bhagavatha Sapthaham and Bhagavatha Satram claim their
origin to the Bhagavatha Satram held at Naimisaranyam. While
Srimad Bhagavatham in Sanskrit is read in both Sapthaham
and Satram, in the case of Sapthaham, there is only one
Yanjacharyan who gives discourses on important narrations
and generally there is no discussion with the listeners. In the
case of Satram, there are several Acharyas (Vakthakkal) who
give discourses on selected subjects from the Bhagavatham.
The Acharyas also become listeners (Srothakkal) and discuss
the subject with the Vakthavu. Thus, the devotees are exposed
to scholarly discussions which will help mitigate their doubts.
Fulfilling a long standing desire of the devotees in the capital
city, the Arsha Dharma Parishad is organizing the first Srimad
Bhagavatha Maha Satram at Uttara Guruvayurappan
Temple in Delhi from 2nd to 9th August, 2015. The Satram will
be held by eight erudite scholars from Kerala. Daily programme
is given separately. All devotees are requested to avail
themselves of this rare opportunity to attend and participate in
the daily discourses and discussions and seek the blessings of
Lord Guruvayurappan.
