Heinzmann Home, 557 South Creekside Drive (Mt. Gilead)Doyce & Pati Heinzmann, homeowners

The 3 story red brick home in the Mt. Gilead neighborhood was built in 2000 and was purchased by the Heinzmanns in 2011. It is on the creek, complete with a dock and deck over the water. The house is not professionally decorated. Each room houses an accumulation of 40 years of acquisitions of furnishings, decorations, family heirlooms and art.

The office is the favorite room of Mrs. Heinzmann’s. It is all about the Civil war and U.S. Presidents with tributes to relatives who have fought in past wars. In the office is an antique French desk she inherited from her grandmother (it was her mother’s before her). The living room has an original bronze statue from the mid 1800’s by Lanceray. There is a bronze ballet statue in the entry by Joslin. Mrs. Heinzmann describes her home as a comfortable family museum. Everything they have used for decoration has history and meaning to their family.

There are several Christmas trees on display, all with a specific theme. One tree has 37 years of White House ornaments. Another tree has history, presidents and their homes where the owners have visited. The third tree is nicknamed “The Travel Tree” and sits in the living room. The nickname comes from the ornaments that adorn it, collected from the various trips over the years to many states and countries. Most recently, there is an Italian section on the tree from the owners’ October trip. Each bedroom has a tree that is decorated to match the personality of their adult children who will be flying in from California to spend Christmas with their parents. The Heinzmanns’ grandson has a tree in his nursery that is made of ornaments from their chidren’s past. In addition, the entire nursery is a tribute to their children when they were little. There is also a “Southern Tree” in the master bedroom as well.

Cantor Home, 553 OldField Road (Mt. Gilead)Stoney Cantor, homeowner

The Cantor home is a classic, low country style home on the canal of Mt. Gilead. It showcases an open floor plan with custom cabinets and mantle as the focal point of the room. The home is a quaint, family home with custom details including a wooden ceiling, hurricane shutters and decks on all levels of the home overlooking a canal of the Inlet.

Cantor enjoys the home with his two children. You will notice the boat out front and the many outdoor seating areas; that is where they spend most of their time. Cantor is known for always having an open door policy and welcoming in guests as if they were family!

The home is decorated in what he likes to call a “coastal cottage theme” with oyster shell elements, a coastal tree in the master bedroom, and more.

Servant Home, 25 Orchard Drive (The Orchard)Emil John “Miles” Servant, homeowner

The Servant home was built in 2010 with a contemporary style in mind. The Orchard neighborhood was developed by Mr. Servant’s father, E.J. Servant, III and Michael R. Hogan in 2003. The original site was a pecan orchard that was a focal point of Old Murrells Inlet for years. The Orchard home still exists today on the south side of the development, which consists of 29 lots. The majority of the home is decorated with original art painted by Miriam V. Servant, Mr. Servant’s grandmother.

Upon entering the home, a nativity scene is displayed on the staircase to your right. The set is handcarved olive wood, purchased by Mr. Servant’s parents in Jerusalem, while on a tour of Israel, sponsored by Reverand Dr. Mike and Betsy Alexander of Belin Memorial United Methodist Church.

The Christmas tree located in the living room on the fireplace mantle features a collection of Mark Roberts world famous magical-winged Santas and elves. Mr. Roberts is known internationally for the limited edition Christmas favorites.

Displayed on the bookshelves in the living room throughout the home are a collection of Steinbach Nutcrackers handmade in Germany. Mr. Servant received these annually as gifts from family members since early childhood.

The Patriotic Christmas tree downstairs is decorated with White House Historical Christmas ornaments. These unique ornaments are designed by The White House Historical Association and honor individual Presidents or specific White House anniversaries. Servant’s family received the first ornament in 1981 from Mr. and Mrs. John Tutko, who worked at the Pentagon. The collection continues to grow to this day. The 2017 ornament honors President Donald Trump.

Edwards Home, 5075 Highway 17 BusinessTravis Edwards, homeowner

Enjoy seeing a cozy old-brick cottage with signature live oaks that set the stage for spectacular views overlooking Huntington State Park and the jetties of Murrells Inlet.

This home once belonged to Genevieve Chandler Peterkin, known to most as “Sister.” She will always be remembered as a good steward of the Waccamaw Neck with a wonderful reputation as a storyteller, environmentalist and activist for racial equality. Her Grandpapa, Clark Willcox, claimed Murrells Inlet was the Garden of Eden. Sister’s husband, Bill Peterkin, mother was Julia Mood Peterkin, who won the Pulitzer Prize in 1929 for her novel Scarlet Sister Mary. Bill’s grandfater, Dr. Julis Mood, bought Brookgreen Plantation along with friends to duck hunt but it was sold in 1928 to the Huntingtons who transformed the property into Brookgreen Gardens.

The yard is framed with hedges as a backdrop for a collection of hydrangeas and azaleas along with palms. Majestic live oaks are in the front yard with live oaks planted on the inlet side after Hurricane Hugo (you will see 28 years of growth).

Fresh greenery from the yard and poinsettias will be among the decorations including easy arrangements anyone can duplicate. Christmas is a time to be with family and friends. The Edwards gather and celebrate “Inlet style” with a big oyster roast followed by a pig pickin’ with lots of good laughs and cold beer.

Agnelli Home -”The Big Gift”, 5143 Highway 17 BusinessJoe & Lee Agnelli, homeowners

Welcome to “The Big Gift”, the part-time piece of paradise of the Agnelli Family of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.

The Agnellis have been enchanted with the Grand Strand ever since they first started vacationing here in the mid-90’s. After several years of renting homes in Garden City, they decided to put down part-time roots in Murrells Inlet and built their first home in 2007 in Prince Creek. In October, 2012, by sheer chance, they stumbled upon this home, immediately fell in love with it, and couldn’t pass up such a wonderful home and fabulous location.

Since each year Joe would give Lee a big gift at Christmas, it was destined that our new vacation home (to which we moved into in December) would be a most suitable present for that year’s special surprise. Hence, the name, The “BIG GIFT;” it couldn’t get much bigger!

They are most thrilled to be a part of the Murrells Inlet community where they share their blessings and good fortune with their two children and their families; their son “Joe 3” and his wife, Maura, their daughter, Catherine, and her husband, John, and their 5 beautiful grandchildren, Dylan John, Joseph Francis IV, Patrick Cameron, Elianna Claire and the newest member of the family, 2-month old, Tyler Mason.

They hope you enjoy your tour of their “getaway” and they sincerely wish you and yours a very blessed Christmas and a happy and joyous 2018!!

Manuel Home, 115 Knotty Pine Way (Collins Creek Landing)Clint & Mary Stanley Manuel, homeowners

The Manuel house is a classic, low country custom home built by Forrest Beverly. It has foam insulation walls and ceilings, hand-cut exposed rafter tails on exterior, restored tumbled Charleston brick floors, reclaimed wood shiplap on walls and ceilings and hand-carved barn door and ktichen hood. They also have custom built dog crates located under the main stairwell. There are also many other unique interior elements, as well.

There is a historic ox cart that has been converted into a coffee table in the living room and an antique tobacco basket. There are several art pieces that are handcrafted out of oyster shells placed throughout the home. They have a driftwood cross made by a local artist, as well as many watercolor paint-ings from their travels to Eleuthera, Bahamas.

The home is decorated in a rustic Christmas theme with a touch of low country flair. The Manuels celebrate Christmas by enjoying the magical time of year with their loved ones.

Flanders Home, 102 Cascade Drive (Highwood of Prince Creek)Dr. Thomas & Kathy Flanders, homeowners

After vacationing in Murrells Inlet for several years, the Flanders bought a new home in Waverly Bay (2011) and visited nearly every long weekend. Four years later, they contracted to build in Highwood (it being their favorite walking tour from Waverly Bay). Their home was completed in April 2017 and they are now permeanent residents. The home is built with traditional brick by Scott Mitchell of Quest Custom Homes. The Flanders are their own interior and landscape designers.

Above the Grandfather Clock is a painting of their Victorian home in Delhi, New York painted by Mrs. Flanders’ mother. The replicated masters are paintings that hung in their bed & breakfast in Delhi, New York (Flanders Field Bed & Breakfast).

The first of November, the Christmas china comes out of storage and the day after Thanksgiving, the trees (from Frontgate as are the ornaments) are put up and decorated. With a special nod to Dr. Flanders, Mrs. Flanders makes a serious attempt to bake Christmas cookies. The week prior to Christmas, their grown children, granddaughters and Ceasar, the Chocolate Lab arrive. Dr. Flanders loves to cook! When their children arrive, Dr. Flanders will cook like there is no tomorrow!

Zensky Home, 127 Wicklow Drive (International Club at Pebble Creek)Dan & Leslie Zensky, homeowners

The Zenskys retired to Murrells Inlet in 2003 from New Jersey, so Mr. Zensky could work on his golf game a bit and Mrs. Zensky could go to the beach. They were fortunate enough to travel around the world and fell in love with the area so much, they decided to settle down. When they start-ed looking for a home to buy, their realtor showed them everywhere from Little River to Murrells Inlet. The last place they looked was International Club. Mrs. Zensky saw the model home (what she calls “The Christmas Tree Home”) and fell in love. They were told there were no lots left and they would have to be entered into a lottery at Willow Bay. They weren’t happy with that and decided to keep looking; always with “The Christmas Tree House” in mind.

During the Thanksgiving holiday in 2005, they received a call from their realtor, Terri Lucas, saying htere was a lot open on the water, facing the golf course, and that their “Christmas Tree House” would fit perfectly. The next day they signed the contract! They arrived and settled down in March of 2006.

Everyday they wake up and love where they live more and more!
