INTRODUCTION
To hold the Perfect Meeting requires the perfect meeting
space. In our information-centric business world, it is crucial
that a company’s conference room technology encourages
one key behavior: Collaboration.
To create the ideal collaborative environment, AMX has defined a range of Standard Room
Solutions that correspond to the most common meeting spaces in corporate campuses today.
To define these Room Solutions, AMX started with the behaviors that companies need to
support in these spaces, and then designed a solution with the ideal technology to support
these behaviors – such as sharing information in real time, connecting people across distances,
controlling technology simply and effectively, and experiencing audio and video with optimal
quality and clarity.
Collaboration (noun): The act of
working with another or others
on a joint project.

ROOM SOLUTION #1: THE BASIC HUDDLE SPACE
Our first Room Solution is for spaces where people
gather for small ad-hoc meetings to review content
from a single mobile device like a laptop or iPad on a
single display. This is typically a small space (+-100
square feet), and is where project teams might gather
to jointly review progress, or where creative teams
would meet to brainstorm ideas or review visuals.
In this Room Solution, users have a simple way to
interact with the technology. An AMX ControlPad
provides a simple
interface for turning
the display on or off, controlling volume and for displaying a
mobile device’s content on the display. To physically connect
the mobile device to the system, this room features a
HydraPort architectural connectivity solution that can
accommodate various types of inputs (VGA, HDMI, etc). The HydraPort is typically placed on or
near a collaboration workspace such as a table top or desktop,
allowing attendees to easily connect their mobile device at the
desk or table, with no unruly cables or wires to create a trip
hazard. It’s literally as simple as connecting a cable to the mobile
device and pushing a button on the keypad.
The overall objective of this room is to provide a space that
encourages collaboration and teamwork. This type of room
typically is in very high demand in today’s corporations, especially
those with open cubicle environments. But despite the
importance of these ad-hoc gathering spaces, many companies fail
to recognize the importance of a enhancing the space with a
simple and cost-effective solution for enabling the collaborative
sharing of content.

ROOM SOLUTION #2: THE MANAGED HUDDLE SPACE
This Room Solution is similar to the Basic Huddle
Space, but adds a twist of sophistication in the
form of presence awareness (lighting sensors
and other environmental controls) and the
ability to connect and control multiple mobile
devices directly from the conference table. This
space also adds a Room PC that can be used to
access resources on the corporate network or
internet during the meeting. The space is
designed for ad-hoc and scheduled meetings, and is typically a small room (+-100 square feet).
Like the Basic Huddle Space, the Managed Huddle Space
allows users to connect their mobile devices via the
HydraPort on the collaboration workspace (desk or
conference table). This Room Solution also adds the
important capability of
connecting and
switching between
multiple mobile
devices from a keypad directly within the HydraPort. For
example, in this room participants could switch between
displaying content from the room PC, a laptop and an iPad
simply by pressing a button on the keypad.
This Room Solution also includes presence awareness:
Sensors and controls that turn the lights and other devices
on and off based on whether the room is occupied. This
important feature is very cost-effective, as it can pay for
itself almost immediately through energy cost savings.
The Managed Huddle Space is an excellent venue for small
groups of employees to gather and share content. It
provides considerable functionality and flexibility at a low
price point, and gives employees an intuitive and effective
way to manage the technology.

ROOM SOLUTION #3: THE CONFERENCE ROOM
This Room Solution facilitates a wide range of ad-hoc
and scheduled collaboration objectives for groups of
5 to 10 people. In addition, the room includes the
ability to interact with remote participants via web
conferencing or video conference, and provides a
simple and intuitive interface for users to control the
entire system.
Another key capability of this room is the ability to
seamlessly incorporate content from a wide variety
of sources, including DVD players, CD players, cable
boxes, document cameras and digital signage players.
Like the Managed Huddle Space, the VTC Conference Room includes a dedicated PC for
providing access to the corporate network and internet.
Since this room gives users the power and flexibility to control
a large number of media sources, the two most critical
components are the User Interface (UI) and the system that
handles the behind-the-scenes management of all the audio
and video inputs and outputs. That’s why this Room Solution
includes a Touch Panel that controls every input and output
device in the room, including the videoconferencing system,
directly from the table top. Also, the system features AMX’s
award-winning Enova DVX All-in-One
Presentation Switcher that seamlessly manages
the content sources and outputs to ensure that
all audio and video are presented at the highest
possible quality and clarity, with no hassle.
The overall objective with the Conference Room
is to provide corporations with an incredibly
powerful venue for conducting a wide variety of
meetings while allowing participants to
incorporate a large number of content sources
directly from the meeting table.

ROOM SOLUTION #4: THE BOARDROOM
This Room Solution typically serves as the
location for executive briefings, client
presentations, and leadership meetings,
and can accommodate larger numbers of
participants. The solution accommodates
multiple displays that can simultaneously
present several sources of information such
as video, audio, cable / broadcast, internet
access and information from mobile
devices. It also accommodates the
seamless sharing of content between all participants on a video conference.
Given the number of local and remote participants that this
Room Solution accommodates, the solution includes a
number of table-mounted microphones to ensure that all
voices are heard clearly
at all locations. The
room also includes
sophisticated lighting control and automation so that all
content is experienced in its optimal setting.
This Room Solution also uses a touch panel to control all the
various sources and displays in the room, and includes one
(or more) solutions for connecting mobile devices directly at
the table. And since the Boardroom is typically a showcase
room, it sports an elegant look and feel that will impress any
meeting participant. For example, this solution features
AMX’s retractable HydraPort connectivity solution, with a
modern design that adds a sophisticated touch to the room.
The objective of this room is to provide corporations with an
effective, easy to use and elegant meeting space where
executives and other employees can host important meetings that require a variety of content
sources presented clearly and crisply on one or several display options.
