Year 3 – Our Journey Through the Year
Monday 13th July – Sunday 19th July
School Website Year 3 Class Page: https://www.stanthonysleeds.co.uk/year-3-1/
The focus of the week is all about ‘Our Journey Through the Year’. Although this year has not
worked out the way we thought, we have still got so much to celebrate together. Wonderful friends, memories, support and care for one another. As a school, we could not be prouder of
each and every one of you and we want you to celebrate all that you have achieved this year, so
you feel proud of yourself too! So may this week be filled with happiness, reflection, wonderful memories and aspiration for the next year ahead.

School Memories
Today, I would like you to think about some of your
favourite memories from your year in school. Can you
think of a trip or visit you have enjoyed? For example,
did you enjoy going on our trip to Harlow Carr Gardens
or our visit to Northern Ballet to learn about the music
genre ‘Lieder’?
Can you think of your favourite topic in school? This could be
something you have enjoyed learning about or found really
interesting! Perhaps you enjoyed performing our class
assembly, learning about the Stone Age or taking part in
Book Week…
I would like you to choose two of your favourite memories
Tuesday
Home Learning Memories Let’s move on to the next stage of our school
year…Home Learning! As a school, we are so proud of each and every one of you for working so hard and keeping yourselves safe.
During this time, you may have learnt new skills, discovered new talents and found out more about your special qualities. These
positives need to be captured and celebrated!
I have uploaded some resources to help you reflect on your journey to our class page. Explore them and have a wonderful time
reflecting on the positive things you may have gained from this experience.
Can you write a paragraph about the topics you have enjoyed during your time learning from home? Using your special Lockdown Memories jar (uploaded to the
class page), could you include the following: - Your favourite Curriculum Consolidation topic - Some interesting facts you have learnt
- Your favourite book/books you have read on Reading Eggs/Reading Eggspress
- Creative tasks which you have enjoyed completing
- Times Table Rockstars challenges you are proud of - Anything else you have enjoyed doing during your
time at home! When you have completed this, you should display it around your home to remind you every day of the things
you have achieved during this time.
from this year and write a paragraph about each. Write as much as you like and
draw pictures if you like too! You may even want to visit our class page to
remind yourself of all the memories we have made together this year. Could you
add a photograph of your favourite activity too?
Thank you all for the most wonderful year, even if it was shorter than we
expected!

Spelling sentences Thinking about your next year
During this year, you have explored lots of things with your teacher and have learned so many exciting, new things.
Today, I would like you to think about what you’re excited for next year. I have uploaded a booklet for
you to complete at home, where you can write your thoughts about your next year at school. This may include things you’re looking forward to,
topics you would like to explore and also a place to write any worries or questions you may have about your new year group next year. If you feel
comfortable, it would be great if you could share any questions or worries you have through a private message on the Google Classroom. Then, all of your comments can be passed on to
your new teacher…who is very much looking forward to be working with you all! I hope you enjoy thinking about all of the exciting times ahead next year!
Thursday
Video reflection Over the last few days, you have had lots of
time to reflect on your school and home learning journey, and have considered things you may be worried about.
Today, I would like you to have a try and summarise some of these in order to make a video reflection of your Year at St Anthony’s!
You may include your favourite memories, topics, experiences and talents you have gained from this year.

Once you have completed these, it would be wonderful if you could upload them to
the Google Classroom under ‘Assignments’, in order to share your special journey this year with your teacher.
Your new teacher in September would love to have a look at these in order to see what exciting things you enjoy! They may even leave you a special message
before you return in September. I hope you enjoy documenting your journey through your year!
Friday
Spelling test Thank you
To finish your school year, it is important to say thank you to the people who have helped you the most this year…your family!
They have supported you from your first day in September, each and every day until the
end of the school year. Although this year has not been easy, your family have been there through it all to take care of you and make
sure that you are safe. Today, I would like you to write a thank you
letter to them, telling them how grateful you are for all that they do and for supporting you on your learning journey this year. I
have included some special words you may want to include in your letter to your family, to help you along the way. What a wonderful
way to end your school year with the people who mean the most!

Creative Curriculum

Art and Design
Can you create your school photograph for this year in a
creative way?
Think about all your special classmates and consider how
you can represent everybody in different, creative ways.
Perhaps you want to do a finger print of every person in the
class or even make peg people to decorate to show
everybody in your year group.
The more creative the better! This should be a nice activity
for you to keep instead of a class photograph in the usual
style.
Remember…
We are each unique, but together we are a
masterpiece!
Poetry
Can you explore your knowledge of poem, to make an acrostic
poem all about your year at St Anthony’s?
Remember, in an acrostic poem, the first letter of each line spells
a word. The word is the subject of the poem. Watch the
following video to help you with this:

Use some of the ideas below as inspiration for your word choice:
SCHOOL TOGETHER STANTHONYS
UNITED SUPPORTIVE REFLECT
DT - Hopes and Dreams
Can you create your own Hopes and Dreams box for the future?
You may want to think about the month or year ahead. What do
you want to achieve? How do you want to feel? What is are your
hopes? Decorate your box to make it look special, and then write
inside it all of your hopes and dreams for the future!
You may wish to share this with others or keep your hopes and
dreams to yourself.
Remember that you can achieve all of your hopes and
dreams in the future!
Memories Freeze Frame
Can you create your own Freeze Frame of the year?
Come and draw/sketch four of your favourite moments frozen
in time, so you can look back and reflect on your happy
memories from the school year.
You may wish to write a short description of what is
happening in each freeze frame, or label your drawing to
show who is in the memory with you.
Enjoy reflecting back through your favourite school moments!
My Aspirations
Where will you be in 10 years time?
Cast your mind forwards and consider where you want to be in 10
years…what will you be doing? What kind of person will you be?
Where will you be? Who will you be with?
Take some time to think about your aspirations and dreams for the
future and what you would like to achieve.
You may not have a clear idea of this yet…and that is okay! You
may wish to include ideas such as, “In 10 years time I would like
to be happy” or “In 10 years time I would like to be with my family
and friends.” The choice is completely up to you!
Mindfulness
In times of change, it is good to take a moment to relax and
unwind. I have uploaded some mindfulness colouring sheets to
help you reflect on the year you have had, and also think ahead to
the next year in school and at home.
Once you have completed the sheets, could you write some of
your thoughts and feelings around the outside of the shape, to
help you imagine your year ahead?
For example, you could write words such as, ‘friendship’, ‘faith’,
‘family’ and ‘aspiration’.
At St Anthony’s, we wish that you will have a restful, healthy and
happy Summer holiday. We can’t wait to see you all in September!
Essentials
Know your three, four and eight times tables. There are lots of videos online to help with this.
Read every day
Exercise daily Take the time to do something kind for someone you love!
How can I improve my writing?
Non-negotiables
when writing
1. I can draft and write in narratives, creating settings, characters and plot.
2. I can proof-read for spelling errors and punctuation – including capital letters and full stops, question marks, exclamation marks, commas for lists
and apostrophes mostly correctly.
3. I can use the forms ‘a’ or ‘an’ according to whether the next word begins
with a consonant or a vowel.
4. I can express time, place, and cause using co-ordinating and subordinating
conjunctions.
5. I can begin to use paragraphs as a way to group related material.
6. I can use headings and sub-headings to aid presentation.
7. I can use the present perfect form of verbs instead of the simple past.
Please ensure children are supervised whilst watching any of the suggested video clips online.
