World Water Day!!!

World Water Day in LA . . . an exciting exploration for our 6th Grade Water Research Group.

We learned that the largest water problem facing cities is “rapid urban population growth.” This means that city populations are growing more quickly than water can be found to serve them.

The population of the cities in the world is 3,300,000,000 people. The total world population is 6,900,000,000 people. 1 in 2 people live in a city. In Africa and Asia the urban population will double by 2030. Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.

The population of California is 37,000,000. Los Angeles County has 9,800,000 people. Los Angeles City is one of the most populated cities in the United States. We have a long history of water problems. William Mulholland conceived the Colorado River Aqueduct to bring water into LA 1941. It made our large scale urban population growth possible. What We Are Doing Here in LA

6th Grade dedicated students developed lessons for the other grades from Kinder – 5th about how to conserve water.

We want to do our part to help the world, so we started by teaching the younger children here at home.
