Pastor’s Ponderings …
Greetings! First off, my wife and I would like to thank you for the wonderful welcome you
have given us here at Wesley UMC. It has truly been a blessing and we are very, very happy
to be here.
God’s love is transforming. In 2 Corinthians 3:18, Paul wrote: “And we all, with unveiled
face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one
degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” Loving God and
loving one another are at the very core of what it means to be and to live as a Christian, so it is
good to learn everything we can about that.
In August we will explore that topic in a four-part sermon series. Paul had a lot to say about
love and we will draw from his writings as we go through the series. Here are the topics of
each week’s segment and the Scripture passage associated with it:
August 5 Build one another up in love Ephesians 4:1-16
August 12 Live in love Ephesians 4:25-5:2
August 19 Give thanks in love Ephesians 5:15-20
August 26 Move in love Ephesians 6:10-20
Truly amazing things also happen when the Holy Spirit indwells us. Galatians 5:22-23 talks
about that: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith-
fulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
We have a bounty of good things to look forward to and it is made possible by the grace of
God. Be safe, be well, be loving, be faithful. Know that you are welcome at Wesley United
Methodist Church.

Then at home, for every meal you eat, place two pennies in your soup can. Pennies collected on last Sunday of the
