THE STANDARDS

ENDURING UNDERSTANDING

In order to meet the rigorous demands of college and/or the workforce, students must be able to read and comprehend increasingly complex literary text. They must read widely and deeply from among a broad range of high-quality, challenging text and develop the skill, concentration and stamina to read these texts independently and proficiently.

Read a minimum of 5 books (500+ pages is the equivalent of 2 books)

sheet• At least 1 must come from the 4th group of your genre ranking

sheet• At least 1 must be a classic literature book

Complete 1 book talk (beginning 2nd marking period)

Complete 1 book project (due w/book talk)

Complete 5 IRB (Independent Reading Book) completion forms for the 5 books logged on the Quarterly Requirements sheet
