Paper: DSDN144 Digital Photographics

Info Sheet: Preparation for Printing

At the end working on a digital photograph you should have three different files:

1. The original jpg or RAW photograph that you took

2. The psd (Photoshop file) that will contain all the adjustment layers that you have created for tonal correction.

3. The TIFF which is the flattened version of your psd file. The final thing you should do to your photograph is sharpen this digital file.

Remember to check your images before taking them to the printer.

• Correct resolution (in most cases 300 ppi)

• RGB mode (even if black and white)

• Flattened (no layers or adjustment layers)

• No alpha channels (no saved selections)

• No paths

• TIFF (or high quality jpeg if emailing)
