Principal’s message ThisweekwewelcomedourParentsandCarerstohelpuscelebrateEducationWeek.PublicEducationprovidesqualityeducationforallstudentsregardlessoftheirbackground.Duringthisweek,wewillbeseekingfeedbackfromparentsregardingourproposedsportsuniformchanges.PartofourPositiveBehaviourforLearninginitiativeinvolvesanefforttorevitaliseprideinourschoolhouses.Studentsweresurveyedandtheysupportedachangeofoursportsuniform,whichwillallowthemtoweartheirsporthousecolourseachweek.Allschoolsrevisetheiruniformeveryfiveyearstoensurewemeettheneedsofourcommunity,henceourrequestforfeedback.Wewouldalsoliketoknowaboutyourpreferredoptionswhenpurchasinguniforms.Asalways,weappreciateyourfeedback.OurschoolwasrandomlyselectedforExternalValidation.ExternalValidationisapartoftheongoingschoolplanningprocessofplanning,self-assessmentandreporting,whichschoolsundertakeeachyear.Theseyearlyprocessesarereviewedbyanindependentpanelofprincipalpeerseveryfiveyears,foreachpublicschoolinNSW.Ourvalidationisscheduledforthe17thAugustandIwillsharethepanel’sthoughtswithourcommunity.Oneofthecorestrategiesintheappropriatedifferentiationofthecurriculumistheuseofsmallgroups.TosupplementouruseofsmallgroupingsinL3weneedparenthelpersinourK-2classes.IfyouhavesometimeandcouldhelpinclassespleasecomeandseeValintheofficeorMrsGillett,DeputyPrincipalandwewillhelpyoufindaclasstosupport.Finally,canIaskthatallofourparentspleasethinkcarefullyaboutwhereyouparkwhendroppingoffandpickingchildrenupfromschool.Someparentsareparkingfartooclosetothecrossingwhichlimitsthevisionforchildrencrossingandthisisillegal.Rememberourchildrenarepreciousandhavingtoparkalittlefurtherfromtheschoolforthesafetyofourchildrenisnotaninconvenience.Thankyouforyourcooperation.Mr Dalkeith

ThisweekJackHfrom6Gwroteuphisthoughtsaboutourmorningroutine:Ithinkkidsthatarriveatschoolshouldwaitpatientlyonthelibrarysteps.Whilethestudentsarewaitingfortheteachertheycantalkwithotherkids.Oncetheteacherondutyarrives,youcanplacehandballinthehandballsquaresorjustchat.Justremembertowearahatonthenetballcourtanddon’tusebiggerballslikenetballs,footballs,soccerballsbecauselittlekidscouldgethurt.

Thesurveyisagreatopportunityforourstudentstoprovideuswithvaluableandquickfeedbackonwhattheythinkaboutschoollife,howengagedtheyarewithschoolandthedifferentwaysthatteachersinteractwiththem.SchoolsinAustraliaandaroundtheworldhaveusedtheTellThemFromMesurveytohelpimprovehowtheydothingsatschool.
