Greetings Fellow Mus-
tangers,
Only one more meet-
ing to preside over
then it will be Christ-
mas party time. It has
been a great year and
I hope the new Pres.
has as good a year as I
have. My thanks to all
the members for mak-
ing this year a very
fun experience for
me. I have made
many new friends and
strengthened old
friendships. You are
all on the Concours
list with me.
On another vein, I
found a great place to
have a picnic or just a
cruise in. I was on
Petit Jean Sunday af-
ternoon and stopped
at pavilion A. It is
right by one of the
oldest stone arch
bridges in the state
and the waterfall that
is beside it. The
sound of the water
was relaxing and the
walking trails are not
too hard. There are
plenty of parking
spaces for our cars
and even a place to
cook burgers and
such. With all the
shade it may be just
the place for us.
If you remember,
Warren had a trip we
can go on in Nov. for a
fun color cruise. I’m
sure he will tell us
more at the meeting. I
need to put some
miles on my ride be-
fore the snow falls. I
hope to be in it every
weekend if I can. Also
at this next meeting
we will be voting on
new officers and if you
remember please
bring a writing utensil
of some kind. We will
most likely be using
paper to cast votes. I
will count them and
anyone who wishes to
question my math may
do so with a $10 dona-
tion to the club.
We may want to think
about winter activities
to keep us tight as a
club. This would be a
good time to drive a
non-show car to the
events, just a thought.
Also you want to pay
for next year’s dues as
soon as you can. You
don’t have to wait until
Jan.
Well, I have to saddle
up, places to go and
things to do.
Steve

A big CAM “Thank You!” to
all the door prize contributors
The 27th Regional Show is now
history and all participating
club members should feel
proud for a job well done. I
would like to single out a few
folks who went the extra mile
to make this show so success-
ful.
First I must thank my wife Carol
for all her help in assisting me
in getting things done in an or-
derly manner. Also she kept
me focused when things
started to get a little crazy. She
had the registration and door
prizes and goodie bag distri-
bution lined out for a smooth
operation.
Next I want to acknowledge the
hard work of Charlotte Fason.
Besides being our club liaison
to Riser Ford she allowed us to
have all the requested goodie
bag items shipped to her house
in Hot Springs, did a 125 letter
mail out to show participants
from last year, made sure our
ad was placed in Mustang
Times, and a host of other
things too numerous to list
here. Thank you Charlotte
you’re the best!
I want to thank the following
people for their work on show
day: Jelaine Davis, Roberta
Walker, Angela Crouse, Kim
Riegler, Becky Fischer, Stepha-
nie Fisher, Ricky Fischer,
Ryan & Kelly Ezell

sure the show site was cleaned
up after the show.
Last but certainly not least, to
all of you who secured door
prizes, posted show flyers and
handed them out at car shows
Dale Mashburn, Randall Davis,
and Dennis Fason. Also I must
thank all the men who parked
the cars [including Kevin Tullos
and Warren Walker], worked
on the judging teams, moved
the cars on Saturday and made
in state and out, and most im-
portantly, entered your car, or
cars, in the show, Thank you.

President Steve Collins’ notes on the Regional Show
Tom Sipes Speaks (continued from page 4)
The CAM Regional Show was a
huge success. I think Tom and
everyone who helped him get
ready for the show needs a
great big THANKS!! There
were very few problems and I
feel that most of the people at
the show were pleased with the
results. If not, well, you can’t
please all of the people all of

scribed and edited by David Green
judges have often judged at
other club’s shows, as well as
National MCA shows. Many
have built cars. Some are MCA
certified. It is not CAM’s goal
to blindly hand out awards to
everyone at a show. Instead,
we reward on a point basis the
best of the best. If you attend
one of (cont’d on next page)
that judges were playing favor-
ites or discriminating against
someone. Much of the time,
the judge doesn’t know or care
who owns a particular car. We
employ judging teams for most
classes. These will have sev-
eral experienced judges
teamed with learners. Nobody
is born knowing this. Our
President Steve Collins called
the 29 members present to or-
der at 7:03 PM. Steve recog-
nized guest Keith Gray from
Benton (94 GT). The Septem-
ber meeting minutes were ap-
proved as published in the Oc-
tober Pony Express. Treasurer
Carol Sipes gave her report.
All show expenses are paid to
date. Her report was ap-
proved.
VP/SC Tom Sipes gave a run-
down and summary of events
for the 27th Annual Show.
President Collins said that the
Fall Color Cruise would likely
be announced by e-mail, de-
pending on the turning of the
foliage and the weather.
After a short discussion, the
club decided to hold the an-
nual Christmas party on Satur-
day, December 6. Editor
Green said he would put full
details in the November Pony
Express.
Next came the officer nomina-
tions for 2009. They are:
• President:
Ricky Fischer
John Riegler
• Vice President/Show Chair-
man
Kevin Olson (provisional)
• Secretary:
Angie Crouse
David Green
• Treasurer: Carol Sipes
• Historian: Robert Crouse
• Editor, Pony Express:
Kim Riegler
• MCA Representative:
Tom Sipes
• 2010 President-Elect
James Ireland
The nominations ceased at this
point. All candidates listed
have indicated their willing-
ness to serve, except Kevin Ol-
sen is still thinking on it. The
floor will reopen at the Novem-
ber 13 meeting for additional
nominations or reconsidera-
tions. The floor will then close.
Contested positions will be
voted on by secret paper bal-
lot. President Collins will count
the votes and announce the
winners.
A Note on Show Judging by David Green
October 9, 2008 meeting minutes from Grady’s Pizza by Secretary David Green
From time to time, it becomes
necessary to refresh or educate
folks on how we judge our
shows.
The Central Arkansas Mus-
tangers have always strived to
maintain the concept of impar-
tial judging. In my 19 years
with the club, I cannot recall a
time when it has been proven

In order to save a judging team
and to hopefully streamline the
show, it was decided earlier to
“participant vote” the latest 2-3
model years like MCA does at Na-
tionals. This worked out well for
us. We had so many cars in that
category that we doubled the
awards for that class. We also
more than doubled the award
count for the modifieds.
These awards came largely from
the Street Driven Occasional class,
which was smaller than expected.
The Concours class was a little
larger than expected, with some
outstanding cars. Ford Powered
First of all, I wish to thank every-
one who planned and worked the
show. If I started naming names, I
know I would accidentally leave
someone out.
We started bringing cars in at 7:30
AM, 30 minutes before official
show start. We ended up with
about 105 registered by 11:20.
This is about the second highest
Regional and the fourth highest
overall show for us. The threat of
rain was a cause for concern ear-
lier in the week, but show day was
partly to mostly cloudy with temps
topping out around 78 degrees.
Special Interest was larger than last
year, but similar in numbers to
some previous years. It is just hard
to accurately forecast how many of
these will come.
The Specialty class continues to be
well represented. We separated
the early cars from the later ones
and gave more awards than usual.
This class is unique to our show as
far as I know. It divides the stan-
dard cars from the more limited
production special models. The
Daily Driven class was about as
planned. If you did not win an
award this year, improve your car
and we will see you in 2009.
