Unemployment

• The Sri Lanka conflict in July 1983 led to unemployment as many people had lost their jobs, including factory workers, self-employed and plantation workers

• A large amount of jobless Sinhalese vandalize, loot and burn their places of work

• This led to everyone being affected in the conflict

Loss of investment from other countries

• Due to the conflict in Sri Lanka, foreign investors had lost their confidence of investing in Sri Lanka

Fall in the number of tourist

• Tourism in Sri Lanka was one of the major source of income for Sri Lanka

• Due to the conflict in July 1983, the number of tourist coming to Sri Lanka had decreased

• The decrease in tourism caused many tourism companies to close down and the earnings had fallen

• There were insufficient money to help build facilities for tourism
