Yanomami background• Amazone rainforest, between Venezuela and Brazil• Villages contain between 50 to 400 people• They live in a common roof called shabono• Polygenic• Only about 20.000 indigenous survive

– Unknown origin– Many variations and dialects

– They don’t have a language per se– Imitate the sounds of birds

• Way of life– Tree houses– Escape from mosquitoes and other tribes’ attacks– Clans of 10- 12 people
