External mains switchTo guarantee accordance of the installation with the valid standards, it is necessary to connect a bipolar mains switch (16A curve C, opening stroke min. 3mm) in an accessible part of the electric installation (230V AC).Connection of the mains cable (230V AC)The mains cable is not included. To reduce the risk of electric shocks in normal operating conditions, observe the following precautions:- Use a double insulation cable (with shielding) for the connection to mains power.- The mains cable should have a diameter of minimum 1.5mm2 and, once it has been connected to the corresponding power input, it must be attached with a cable tie to a solid surface outside the power supply (e.g. casing).- To guarantee the electrical safety and correct functioning, always connect the ground conductor to the corresponding terminal. If the power supply is mounted in a metal casing, this must be grounded, too.Safety instructions to be followed during functioningProtect the power supply, as any electronic device, against splashes and avoid placing recipients containing liquids next to it.The power supply must be installed so as to ensure adequate ventilation. Do not cover the device with things that may hinder correct heat dissipation.

Mains cable (230V AC)Connect the mains cable and fi x it with clips or screws.The control panel is protected by a terminal’s connection on-board fuse. The interruption of the fuse is necessarily attributed to a failure or an exceptionally violent electromagnetic discharge (e.g. a lightning fl ash).
Ground conductorIt is mandatory to connect the ground conductor between the base of the casing and the door. Check if the connection wire is connected onto the two fastons on both sides (see the beside photo).

The EN 50131-1 standard distinguishes 4 access levels:
Level 1 - Access of any subject (e.g. direct viewing on the console or access by keystroke without enter a code).Level 2 - Access of authorized users with code. The system recognizes 200 standard user codes and one master code. Whereas
the privileges of the standard user codes can be customized, the master code always has all the privileges.Level 3 - Access to the installer. The access of the installer must be authorized by a user with the access code of the level 2
(enabling by menu).Level 4 - Access of the manufacturer.
The minimum code length must be 5 digits.The options (eg. inputs programmed as key) which permits arming/disarming of the system without an adequate access control are not conform with the standards series EN 50131-3.
This section of the manual contains all the additional information is necessary to install, program and use the EN 50131 certifi ed control panel TP8-28 EN.

Specifi c functioning modesArming of the system with open zonesThe arming of the system with open zones is possible with the forced arming procedure.Enter a valid code followed by the number of the program to arm and press Yes.This procedure causes a temporary exclusion of the open zones at automatic arming. The zones will automatic be included at the disarming of the programs.The event is stored into the event log.
AntimaskingAccording to the standards series EN 50131, the information about the status of the system must be available only if the system is activated (programs armed). When the antimasking time is elapsed, they are no longer displayed. A valid code enables viewing of the events.
Range reductionEvery input is programmable as “reduction of range” to manage the signaling which has been sent as a failure alarm (only for the detectors which have this function).
Enabling of the installer accessThe access by installer code must be enabled by one of the others codes. The enabling of the access must not exceed 12 hours. The installer must use his personal code (by default 54321).
Entry time 1 and 2The programmed entry time should not exceed 45 seconds.
Alarm timeIt is mandatory to program the alarm time with a minimum time of 1 minute and 30 seconds and a maximum time 14 minutes and 59 minutes.
Siren activation delay The maximum activation time of the outdoor sirens is 10 minutes.N.B. This restriction is valid regardless of the EN 50131 certifi cation.
Zone exclusionThe exclusion excludes the detection function of an alarm of a zone (primary function) but it does not excludes the tamper which is always active.N.B. This restriction is valid regardless of the EN 50131 certifi cation.
IsolationThe isolation is an action which totally disarms a zone or a device. The zone loses all detection capacity and the device loses all operability capacity both for the primary function and tamper (not active).
TimersTo use the timers it is mandatory to activate the arming warning option. It is a visual-acoustic indication on the console which indicates an imminent event. To confirm the activation, it is advisable to make a call confirming the arming.
Timers - Not authorized functioning modeAccording to the standards series EN 50131, the functioning mode of the timers not permitted are arming, forced arming and conditioned forced arming since it is impossible to block the automatic arming when the procedure is started.
Timers - Authorized functioning modeThe functioning mode of the timers permitted by the standards series EN 50131 are the conditioned arming and arming with exclusion of the open zones. The standard requires that the arming of the system with open zones causes no alarm.
Arming of the programs during failure conditionAccording to the standards series EN 50131, no program can be armed during a failure condition, eg. tamper, low battery, power failure, failure between interconnections, interruption of fuse etc. However, a user of the level 2 can force this situation pressing Yes on the console. The failure is stored into the event log.
Quick arming and disarmingIt is not permitted to use the quick arming/disarming commands for the programs of the control panel.

Mandatory instructions concerning the programming of the zone inputs to be conform with the standards series EN 50131.
Input fi lterThe programming of the input fi lter (minimum time of persistence of the alarm condition) must be 50ms to 400ms.
Hold-up zoneThe zone inputs programmed as hold-up zones are conform with the standards series EN 50131 if the input is associated to a group associated to a program always armed.Example: The group is composed of one or several keys associated to a program always armed, the hold-up is notifi ed on the display of the console by the message for available information.
Technical zoneThe zone inputs programmed as technical zones are not homologated and are not part of the system.
Key zoneTo be conform with the EN 50131-3 standard, it is not permitted to program the inputs of the control panel as key zones.
NO and/or NC zonesTo be conform with the EN 50131-3 standard, it is not permitted to program the inputs of the control panel as NO (normally open) and/or NC (normally closed).
Anti-tamper protectionAll the options which involve disabling of the tamper protection are not conform with the standards series EN 50131.
Restrictions for the zone input programming
Mandatory instructions concerning the means of telephone notifi cation to be conform with the EN 50136-2-1 standard.
Telephone line testThe PSTN control dial option must always be active.
Channel activation delayAccording to the EN 50131-3 standard, it is not permitted to program a notifi cation delay for the telephone transmitters.
Call confi rmationThis option must be enabled for the telephone calls which provide voice messages.
Test call serverTo be conform with the standards series EN 50131, the call test must be programmed with intervals ≤ to 25h.
Events with obligation of notifi cationAccording to the standards series EN 50131, the events with obligation of notifi cation of the categories intrusion, hold-up, failure and tamper must be associated to a channel which is associated to a telephone number.
The events with obligation of signaling are indicated by a symbol in the table below.

The EN 50131-1 norm defi nes the type of warning device (sirens and telephone communicators) according to the security grade of the system.Starting from the grade 2, the presence of an alarm transmission equipment (ATE), such as a telephone communicator is always mandatory. It must be integrated either with a self-powered siren (WD) or two sirens with external power supply.The table below shows a summary of the grades 1, 2 and 3. For each grade it is possible to apply one of the indicated installation options: A, B, C or D.
Restrictions for the warning devices
Restrictions on notifi cationThe delay of the notifi cation for intrusion, hold-up, tamper during more than 10 seconds it is not permitted.It is permitted to notify the power supply failure with a maximum delay of 1 hour.It is required to a control panel level 2 with programs armed to notify a tamper condition both with the indoor and outdoor sirens.
Warning: The remote monitoring software and the connections by PC and monitoring software are not included in the EN 50131 certifi cation.

To guarantee the effi ciency of the burglar alarm system it is necessary to provide an appropriate maintenance program. The frequency of the maintenance depends on different factors, anyway it is recommended to execute a control about every 6 months. These operations should be made by specialized technical staff, the same who has been developed the project and completed the installation. The European standards series EN 50131 include the possibility to remotely execute one of the two required inspections.
The most important controls are:• The status of the power supplies and system batteries• The status of the batteries and self-powered devices (sirens and transmitters)• The functional verifi cation and coverage of the movement and perimeter detectors• The effi ciency of the control units and procedures for arming of the program• The effi ciency of the warning devices• The correct detection and management of the tamper alarms• The other secondary functions (e.g. activation of hold-up alarm etc.)• The correct connection of the cables to the terminals• The fi nal inspection report
Restrictions for the periodic maintenance of the system
Primary supply - Power supplyThe power supplies of the control panels are conform with the EN 50131-6 standard:• Every 24h control of the status of the battery effi ciency (APS - alternative power supply). The test is executed under load (the test is not executed with mains voltage absence)• Every 10 seconds checking of the output low voltage• The installer can execute a battery test under load• Disconnection of the battery if voltage < 8.8V (protection against the deep discharge)N.B. All the functions listed are subject to the status of the W1 jumper (on the CPU) which must be removed.Secondary supply - BatteryThe control panel is available in several versions with ABS or metal casing. The casings have different dimensions. Compared to the ABS casing, the metal casing permits the installation of batteries with higher capacity (up to 18Ah). These models are equipped with a power supply able to recharge the batteries within the time prescribed by the standard.AutonomyThe below tables show the batteries permitted by the security grade as well as the autonomy required in line with the security grade and the system management (monitored or not).From the current values indicated, the consumption of the control panel and all devices which compose the system (control units, detectors, outdoor sirens, etc) must be deduced. The sum of the consumption must be less than the value indicated in the table.

CREATION OF A NEW SYSTEMThe Tecnoalarm software permits programming and management of the system by PC.The systems are managed by an archive which collects all the users/installations. To create a new installation and then to manage it, it is necessary to complete the New user form which identifi es the installation:

Archive confi guration In this mode you are not connected to the control panel, therefore it is possible to program and store a confi guration fi le which will be transferred on the control panel at any time.
Local programmingIn this mode you are locally connected to the control panel.There are two connection options: the fi rst is a physical connection between PC and control panel through the PROG USB interface, the second is a connection between PC and control panel by IP using the local network LAN.
Remote programmingIn this mode you are remotely connected to the control panel, via telephone line through a modem or via WAN network through an IP connection. Both the connection options are only available if a telephone number/modem of a WAN IP address has been programmed in the New user fi le.
Once the installation has been saved into the New user archive, it has been add to the list of the installation managed by the Tecnoalarm software. The line selected corresponding to the new system is the one highlighted by the blue bar.

Virtual console

2 - Description Alphanumeric description of the zone - It is possible to program a description of max. 16 characters which is viewed on the display of the console and which identifi es the zone in the event log. Write the description directly in the description line. The display of the console is able to view maximum 16 characters. All further characters will be cut off.
Voice message - The voice message can be composed of max. 4 words selectable among those included in the vocabulary. After enabling, 4 items (A, B, C, D) are viewed, one for each word. The voice message is associated to the zone and it identifi es the voice menu. It will be announced by the speaker of the enabled devices.
Arrow key (Validation) - Click on the arrow key to copy the words A+B+C+D into the description line. The description has a max. length of 16 characters. All further characters will be cut off.
While programming of the description and the type of zone is the same for all the zones, programming of the detector differs according to the selected technology and type. The programming of the zone type cycles and activations is explained by the example of a conventional detector. Each detector has specifi c programming parameters.
Detector categoriesDetectors are divided into four categories according to the kind of connection with the control panel, which is identifi ed by the contact type. Each category has different functioning characteristics, i.e. different settings.Examples of all the different detectors are illustrated in the following pages.
Group 1Hard-wired zones with standard wiring - Contact type: NC, NO, EOL resistor, DEOL resistor (traditional movement detectors and detectors with RDV technology).
Group 2 Wireless zones - Contact type: Wireless (Tecnoalarm detectors only).

3 - Zone typeSelect from the drop-down menu, the zone type among the following options:
The defi nition of traditional detector indicates all types of conventional detectors which signal an alarm by switching a contact.They include detectors with relay output, magnetic contacts, inertia detectors, rope contacts etc.
Excluded The zone is permanently disabled for the detection of alarms.Direct The zone is enabled for the detection of alarms immediately after arming of the program it is included in without
taking into account any entry or exit time (the zone is ready after 20 seconds).
Walk through The zone is a mixed zone. It is normally direct and enabled upon arming, but behaves as a delayed zone if another delayed zone is in prealarm (entry time running) or during the exit time. It is used if one detector covers more than one zone, e.g. entrance and hall, situated along the entry/exit path in which the walk through zone is the more distant one.
Technical The zone is always enabled (even if the control panel is disarmed). It is used for the detection of gas leaks, fi re alarms or as expansion to the tamper line.
Delayed T1 The zone is not enabled for the detection of alarms upon arming of the program it is included in but only after expiry of the programmed exit time 1.
Delayed T2 The same as above but with different exit time.Hold-up The zone is always enabled (even if the control panel is disarmed). It releases a silent alarm (neither acoustic
nor optical signaling) with maximum priority.
Key The zone permits arming/disarming of the program it is included in by mechanical key or push button connected to it. The functioning mode of the key zone can be programmed as on/off or pulse (see also the option window).
Tamper The zone is direct and always enabled (even if the control panel is disarmed). It is equivalent to the ZT input and releases zone tamper alarms.
Antimasking Always active zone dedicated to the traditional detectors which are equipped with a specifi c masking output. The signaling sent to this zone input is managed as a tamper alarm and is active during the tamper alarm time. The
alarm signaling is programmable and may be subject to the system status. It is possible to activate the specifi c detector masking output on the output expansion (address 4). In addition, the outputs programmed as tamper are activated.
Range reduction Always active zone dedicated to the traditional detectors which are equipped with a specifi c range reduction output. The signaling sent to this zone input is managed as a failure alarm and is active during the tamper alarm time. It is possible to activate the specifi c detector range reduction output on the output expansion (address 4).
In addition, the outputs programmed as failure are activated.
General failure The zone is equipped with an internal (not programmable) timer and activates a failure signal if the condition persists for more than 10 seconds.

4 - CyclesProgramming of the maximum alarm cycles per session of functioning session. The zone is automatically excluded when the number of programmed alarm cycles is reached. The self-exclusion is valid until disarming of the program the zone is included in. Program the alarm cycles by clicking on the corresponding item and choose the number of alarm cycles. It is possible to program 1, 4, 8, 15 or infi nite alarm cycles prior to self-exclusion.

5 - Loop wiring (contact type)Selection of the contact type of the zone input the detector is connected to. Select the contact type according to the kind of connected detector.Select the type of contact from the drop-down menu:
NC Normally closed contact. Inputs which, in stand-by have a resistance of 0 Ohm at each end, whereas, in case of alarm, they are open and the resistance exceeds 2K Ohm.
EOL Resistor End-of-line resistor. Inputs which, in stand-by have a nominal resistance of 2.7K Ohm balancing the return voltage toward the control panel, while in case of alarm, the resistance exceeds the range of expected values (inferior to 2K Ohm or superior to 4K Ohm).
DEOL Resistor Double end-of-line resistor. Inputs which, in stand-by have a rated resistance of 2.7K Ohm. The type of alarm can be discriminated according to the resistance value measured to the contact’s terminal:
• Stand-by from 2K Ohm to 4K (rated 2.7K Ohm) • Tamper from 0 to 2K Ohm or superior to 7.4K Ohm • Alarm from 4K Ohm to 7,4K Ohm (rated 5.4K Ohm).
NO Normally open contact. Inputs which, in stand-by, are open (superior to 2K Ohm), whereas, in case of alarm, they have a resistance of 0 Ohm at each end.
ZONE BUS RS485 serial connection. Thanks to this digital serial connection, the control panel is able to identify or to distinguish the kind of transmitted alarm. This contact type is reserved for the connection of the WINBEAM/S and DOORBEAM/S barriers.
SENSOR BUS RS485 serial connection. This contact type is reserved for the RSC devices with relative input and RS485 interface. This kind of bidirectional connection permits programming, monitoring and remote control of the connected RSC detectors.
WIRELESS Virtual contact type. It is only viewed if the selected zone input belongs to a wireless device.
6 - Number of activationsThe zone signals an alarm if the programmed number of the activations (0 to 99) has been counted during the programmed period of time (0 to 99 minutes) or if, upon expiry of the programmed period of time, the zone is permanently in alarm (even if the programmed number of activations has not been reached).

It is possible to enter the desired description and name in the corresponding items. In this case, the unit of measurement of the fi lter is not automatically fi lled in, it is necessary to select it manually (see item 9).
9 - FilterUnit of measurement for the fi lterDetermines the response time (ms, pulses, inertia, RDV) or sensitivity (from low to high) according to the kind of the detector or contact selected.
Sensitivity (fi lter value)Determines the alarm threshold. The fi lter takes different values according to the selected unit of measurement. Set the sensitivity using the scroll bar.
Unit and value of the fi lterMs 200, 400, 1000, 2000 Minimum time of the input must remain open to validate the alarm.Pulse 2, 4, 8, 16 Minimum number of openings and closings of the input to validate the alarm. 10 - CopyThe copy key permits copying of all of the programming parameters of one zone to another. The duplication of the zone confi guration is useful to speed up programming if several zones must have the same confi guration.
11 - PastePermits to paste the zone confi guration previously copied. This key is viewed only after clicking on Copy. Select the zone (association of logic zone to physical input of the module) and click on Paste. The paste key shows a number which corresponds to the number of the copied zone. It is suffi cient to modify the desired parameters (e.g. the description).

This type of detectors refers to the devices connected to the Zone Bus, i.e. the WINBEAM/S and DOORBEAM/S barriers.The fi rst part of programming is identical to any other category of detectors.

Select the Zones-Functions table.The Zones-Functions confi guration table permits the association of the zones to a series of functions.Although all the zones are viewed you can select only those programmed. The programmed zones, i.e. those managed by the control panel, are highlighted. Check the corresponding item to enable/disable the zone for the function.
Select the function and enable or disable the zone.
