As we begin looking toward the Thanksgiving Holiday, I would like to take this opportunity to express how thankful I am for all of you. I am thankful for the continuous love and encouragement you have shown to me and my family, and I am thankful for the many ways you allowed me to be your Pastor. In the past several years, I have led in the ordinances of baptism and communion, performed marriages and funerals, visited in sickness, celebrated in joy, worshipped and served with you. You allowed me to be a part of your family, and I am humbled and grateful for your friendship and love.
As I stand in the sanctuary foyer and examine the pictures of the Pastors who have preceded me, I often wonder what they felt and experienced here at Wrightsboro. Were they passionate for Christ and His Kingdom? Did they love their congregation and pray for them? Did they enjoy serving beside each other and was the gospel their primary focus? I also wonder what people will think when they stare at my picture. Will they know how I long to see God’s glory? Will they know how much I love the people of this church? Will they know how much I enjoyed serving beside each of you and all we witnessed as Christ revealed His glory in this community?
I honestly do not know what people will think when they see my picture, or even how you will remember me and my family in the years ahead, but I hope you know we love each of you and we are thankful for our time here. When we remember you, we will always think of how Paul described his relationship with the Philippians: “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:3-6).
It has been an honor to serve with you; to partner with you for the gospel over these last several years, and I know Christ will continue to use you for His glory. Stay committed to the Great Commission given by Christ in Matthew 28:18-20. Focus your time, attention, and resources on making disciples by gospeling (going out and shar ing the gospel), baptizing (helping believers grow in the basics of following Christ), and teaching each other how to follow Christ and His commands in your daily lives. Continue to obey and trust the King and you will see His glory in this community. Continue to seek our King, crave His presence, and allow Him to open your eyes to see all He is doing around you. And most of all, continue to live each day in expectant hope because our King reigns now and forever!
For the King,
Pastor Brad

GOD’S GOT A PLAN! How about You?
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, wholesome plans and not harmful, to give you a hope and a future.”
Never have we had so many opportunities to waste our time. Our consumer crazed society has multiplied the ways we can spend whatever free time we might have (movies, television, DVD’s, internet, shopping, sports, eating out and the list goes on and on). Many of our lives have become non-stop examples of busy activity. We’re here, we’re there, we’re everywhere! We are active and busy but we don’t seem to be getting anywhere which leads me to conclude that I need, YOU need, the WORLD needs a plan!
The very best plan out there is to accept and follow God’s plan for our lives! John 3:16 “For God SOOOO loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus) that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.”
Waking up each day knowing the things most important to God should be the things most important to me. Psalm 16:3 says “Commit your activities to the Lord and your plans will be achieved.” How are you coming on that plan? And how will it change your plans for today, tomorrow and for ALL of ETERNITY?!

This time of year presents us with many opportunities to experience the changes that are taking place around us. Cooler weather dictates a wardrobe change. Shorter days mean we have less time to work outdoors after work. For some of you these changes are not welcome. I happen to love the cooler weather and all the activities associated with it. Some changes cause us to have questions for God that are not easily answered. That is the topic for the fall retreat at Caswell: “Questions We Have about God and the Christian Faith.”
Please pray for us November 11th-14th as we attend. And by the way, God never changes. I am thankful for that, what about you?

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!” Psalm 150:6
Psalm 150 is a universal Call to Worship, calling all of creation to praise the Lord. It serves as the “Grand Finale” to the praise found throughout the Book of Psalms.
What? We are to “Praise the Lord!” In these 6 verses, “praise” occurs 13 times.
Where? “In His sanctuary & His mighty firmament.” This addresses both corporate and personal worship. (vs. 1)
Why? “For His mighty acts, power, greatness” (vs. 2)
How? Creatively, with instruments & voices Worship is a verb as well as a noun. (vs. 3-6)
Who? Every living creature! (vs. 6)
When? Always!

I would like to take this opportunity to say how thankful I am for such a wonderful church family! It is truly a blessing to serve the Lord with such loving people.
In children’s ministry this month we will be starting a new tradition. The children will be making high end Christmas ornaments! These will be for sale during the month of December and all monies raised will go toward Lottie Moon. It’s exciting seeing our children getting involved in missions, don’t you think?!!!
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Leslie
