• All Jews were considered evil, no matter their religion, job, or education

• Took citizenship away from Jews

• Banned marriages between Jews and Germans

• By summer of 1936, half of Jews were unemployed

• Many Jews leave, but most stayed

• Means “night of broken glass”

• Nov.9, 1938, marked beginning of the anti-Jewish violence that erupted in Germany

• Jews were rounded up and contained in concentration camps

• Used as slave labor for military industries
