Of course, allthe brooms are put away beforeNew Year’s Day so that the greatfortune that is come cannot beswept away. Families will thenbegin their celebrations with a

huge dinner and reunion, manyin new clothes and shoes, possi-bly a new haircut, symbolizing anew start.
