OceanOceans are the largest bodies of salt water on earth.

RiverA large natural stream

of water emptying into a

lake, ocean or larger

body of water.

Peninsula

An area of land that is nearly surrounded by water.

Prairie

A prairie is a region of flat or hilly land covered by tall grasses.

Lake A lake is an inland

body of water. This is a picture of Blowdown lake in

the mountains near Pemberton British Columbia.

IslandAn island is a piece of land that is completely surrounded by water.

PlateauA plateau is a flat area of land higher than the land around it.

PlainA plain is a large, low area of flat or rolling land with few trees.

ValleyA valley is an area of low land between mountains or hills.

               

                                  

        

MountainA mountain is a high area of land with steep sides and a sharp peak.

animal and plant species.
