Sun, Earth, Seasons and Sun energy.

TRANSCRIPT

Our Sun is not unique in the universe. It is a common middle-sized yellow star which scientists have named Sol. This is why our system of planets is called the Solar System. There are trillions of other stars in the Universe just like it. Many of these stars have their own systems of planets, moons, asteroids, and comets.

The Solar S y s t e m consists of the Sun and t h o s e c e l e s t i a l o b j e c t s bound to it by gravity, all of which formed from the collapse

of a giant molecular cloud approximately 4.6 billion years ago. The four smaller planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars, also called the terrestrial , are primarily composed of rock and metal. The four outer planets, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, also called the gas giants, are composed largely of hydrogen and helium.
