SSHS Cheer Clinic

8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony CriteriaAt the end of the school year, we will be having a Moving Up Ceremony for our 8th grade students. At this ceremony, promotion certificates will be handed out.

The criteria for 8th graders to participate in the Moving Up Ceremony are as follows:

○ Promotion at the middle school level is based on semester grades. A passing grade in middle school is a D or better.

○ Semester grades are a cumulative average of first and second quarter grades as well as third and fourth quarter grades.

○ District 186’s current Board of Education Promotion Policy states that students must pass all core subjects.

Smart watches & Apple watches are not allowed at school.

This includes (but is not limited to) fitness trackers with bluetooth capability, and other wearable devices that are able to send or receive information.

Reminder to all students:

Food and Drinks in the Classroom

Vending machines are open to students after school as long as you are not riding a school bus home. Vending machines should not be used by students during the day.

Attention 8th Grade Beta Club Members

If you did not turn in your invitation to the initiation ceremony please see Ms. Mariotti today. A template of the letter is on Ms. Mariotti’s website. If you want the template shared through Google stop by and see her. Type your letter and share it with Ms. Mariotti using

Google or print it off yourself. Remember to have the address including zip code and remember you will have

to sign the letter before we mail it.

Attention 7th Grade Beta Club Members

All 7th grade Beta Club members who plan on inviting a favorite teacher to the Initiation Ceremony need to have forms turned in by Friday - March 29 - with your service hour forms.

Invitations are going out right after spring break - all forms are due by March 29th.

See Mrs. Zinnen, if you have any questions!

Art Club

Please bring your t-shirt order form and money by Friday (3/29) if you want an

Art Club shirt

7th Graders interested in becoming a WEB Leader for the 2019-2020 school

year, please see Mrs. Jones (room 225) or

Mrs. Shaw (room 105) for an application. All

completed applications must be turned in by Friday, March 29th.

Attention 7th Graders

Gen-H, The Hungry Games II, will be held on April 26, 2019. This is a cooking competition for 4th - 8th

graders where contestants cook a healthy meal to compete for a cash prize. Entries must be submitted by

April 1, 2019.

Thursday: Scholastic bowl meet @ St. John Carrollton vs St. John Carrollton and Calhoun. Bus leaves 2:45. First match is at 4:30. We’ll be back at 8 after we eat dinner. This is a 2, 4 match.

Friday: Practice 2:30 to 4:00

The announcements will be scrolling all day. Classes that are NOT testing may watch the announcements at any time.

Classes that are testing may watch announcements AFTER the test has concluded, if time permits (and at the discretion of the

teacher).

Schedules are posted throughout the halls.

IAR Reward Any removal from class DURING THE ENTIRE TESTING WINDOW (referral or buddy seat) will result in being taken OFF the IAR Reward! This includes Wednesdays!
